Manual tactics ?

Hi guys,
I don't know much about tactics, so I have a question (sorry, maybe stupid ?)
What's the difference between the "static" tactics (the ones that u set to A,B or C , like offside trap, backline, etc) and the "manual" tactics ? (that u change with L2+X for example).
For example, what's the difference between Cntr Attck in each of them ? When should I use the "manual" Cntr Attck ? I have it activated all the time, but should I rather activate it only before counter attacking ? The same question appplies to the other settings (zone press, side attack, etc...). Should I have them always activated or only at the right time ?
Thxs,

I believe that setting one of those to A is the same as having it manually on all the time. But this area of the formation screen is a bit cloudy to many.

You won't notice any difference by having them on all the time. If you have counter attack and only turn it on when you need it, i think you'll see players running forward as opposed to already being forward and waiting for the play to move up.

ok, thxs mate. Should work like that since I know that the offside trap does (since it's activated for something like 3 secs). But I'm still curious if some settings like zone press can be "doubled" (set to A in "static" tactics + activated as manual tactic)...
I'll try to experiment and see by myself...
