how come when i play against my friend with my master league team it doesnt let my has the improved player stats.

Because that is a master league team.

If you want to have improved stats you need to go to the My Best Eleven option in master league. Not quite sure how to get there but just look about and you can't fail to miss it. You then just save the team onto your memory card, and select them as you would against you friend using the load master league option. They should then have updated stats.
