If I buy max drive can I download a patch from here and upload it to the PS2?

in order to patch on a PS2 it needs to be modded
with a max drive you can DL option files tho, which can be of pretty good quality

I don't think I want to mod the PS2,I just thought I could buy a maxdrive download a patch and save the patch to the option file.

I'll just patch the PC version,it's easier.
