I've had a similar experience when it comes to playing PES 2016 and all the series before that. I simply enjoy the gameplay so much, even though the rosters are not up-to-date, stadiums & kits are lacking and the limited licensing of official teams. To me, that's what matters most; gameplay. In my opinion, if a developer is able to capture the attention of the audience, which is to enjoy a game of virtual football, then I think it's safe to say they haven't put a foot wrong.
Where you have decreased the game speed to -1, I on the other hand have increased it to +1 as I feel that there is more fluidity. When the game starts off with the speed set to 0, I felt that it was alright but because of my preference for fast gameplay, hence the increased of gameplay speed.
I am currently embarking on my customary Master League with the ML Default players in the team (not Club Players) in the Serie B, difficulty set to Top Player with 10 mins in each half. I am finding this set up challenging enough due to the level of my players at my disposal and that the other teams simply have better players. After riding out the storm from August til November, with losses and draws aplenty instead of wins, my team is now sitting on top of the league with 10 points of breathing space from the nearest challenger.
In the beginning it was tough to get the rhythm of the team going. Only when my team started to gel and passing and positioning between the players were fluid that I enjoyed victories. It was even harder to take when my team was tasked to take on Internazionale in the TIM Cup [it was only the first round ='(] It was a nightmare match where the team got hammered 4-0 away and 4-1 at home. However, the team managed to get around that whipping nightmare and turned the results around and land themselves where they are right now =)
Yes, Konami's release of the game was rushed, Data Pack was a little bit of a disappointment however, just like the previous series, they will always send/provide updates and patches to the game to iron out the major issues. One big change that I would like to thank them for would be the implementation of the data import (which was available on the PS3 before this) which allows customisation of kits, club details etc. Added with the fact that there are skilled kit & face designers aplenty on this very site and others as well, who are putting in so much effort into making the game much more enjoyable is the reason I am loving PES so much.
I will end off by saying that I find Konami are slowly but surely taking steps to give their fans what they want but we have to understand that it is simply impossible to expect wholesale changes within the next 1 year.
PS: Just an honest question to those who have/had bad experiences with PES, if Konami does take into consideration ALL the major feedback highlighted from fans/players all over the world but it would take them longer than a year to complete it (say 2 years for example) would you wait for it?
My answer: I would, so long as the current game gets updates up til the release of the new title =)
