My Grievances with PES3

It's true the refs do blow up for some stupid fouls. Oh and does anyone know the reason why Holland have such strange names in PES3 & PES2?


P.S. The constant offside descisions in real footy I was talking about was mainly referring to Diego Forlan.

I'm actually quite pleased with the refs... you can no longer kick down a striker just outside the box and get away without a card. The tackling system is very good imo, but then I play with default cam.



3. AI. My god is this piss poor or what?? Goal mouth scrambles happen in slow motion and usually end with the ball being cleared due to the fact that attackers dont throw themselves in there! Situations where you NEED a player to just stick his foot in to win the ball, HA! no chance! I think the AI is the biggest dissapointment especially compared to PES2 which was smooth and brilliant!

What the hell he's talking about there, I have no idea. Pes2 smooth and brilliant. OMG. In Pes2, when a player got the ball in front of an open goal he had to stand around awhile and admider the ball's roundness or so it looked. In Pes3 they just hammer it in right away.

Why the Ref dont give RED card to the last defender for Professional foul, not tackle but a tug or anything else. not even yellow card. whereas in real life its a straight RED. u guys get what i mean?

Totally agree with that point. ISS Pro Evolution 2 is the best football game in my opinion. While the PES series is very good, I don't feel they've ever topped this one. If you can ignore the ugly as hell graphics, it's a brilliant game.

Glad someone else thinks like me, don't get me wrong I love PES3 but I have played ISS Pro Evolution 2 on a PSX emulator on a PC with 2 people fighting over which keys are theirs with the worst graphics on a crappy PC to make sure the game runs fast and that is some of the most fun I have had playing any football game ! How I even enjoyed the game in those conditions is amazing but to have that much fun is genius ! Give me a PS2 version of ISS Pro Evolution 2 (which I was hoping PES was going to be when it came out) and I will never need a new football game... EVER !

Just my opinion but Konami got everything right with ISS Pro Evo 2. GENIUS !

I agree, there are some annoying niggles with the game. The handball thing is particularly frustrating, plus the referees can be severely over-zealous.
PES3 is still utterly superb.

Why oh why oh WHY! do players constantly get pulled back for fouling when it is either SO obvious the ball was won or you accidentally touch someone?!

Yeah, it's a bitch aint it. Konami could have worked on the advantages and foul detection a bit more. I've had the ol' i've won the ball, but the muppets gone over my foot, so i get a foul or card against me! trick an all.

2. Referees. As stated about the strictness. Ridiculous. There is no need to send a player off for the first tackle in a game unless its totally malicious.

Usually the CPU will give you a card for sliding tackles, and will send you off without question for a sliding tackle from behind (as they probably would in this case in The permiership).

Handball. No need for this silly rule. Its dosen't make the game more realistic just more irritating!

Luckily i've found that handball only really occurs AGAINST me, but it does seem pretty random. And there's no replay either making it feel like a tacked on bit of play.

OFFSIDES!!!!!!! Argh! Why cant strikers watch the line

Yeah, this is very annoying. Especially so in the scoring challenges. Sometimes i've played perfect balls over the defense only to be caught offside. I think this must have been deliberate from Konami (like the handball thing) to stop goal fests.
