Patching Euro versions (ie. PES3)

Hi all,

There has been a lot of talk on here regarding what you need to do to play WE7 on a Euro PS2 (using mod chip) and then creating and burning patches onto an image of the game.

But my question is this:

PES3 comes out, and patches become available for fully sponsored proper kits etc. I can use PC to read the image from disc and apply the changes/patches I want and burn a new disc. Will a standard PS2 play this then ?
Since PES3 is europe region coded this shouldn't be an issue, unless this info is not part of the image read from the original disc.

Are they any other issues ?

Thanx in advance...

The PES games are on DVD so unless you want to sort out the fiddly method of taking out all the foreign commentary to make it smaller, the alternative is to use a DVD-burner.

And that's only IF people make patches for PES3. Hopefully the file system won't be too different to WE7 and they will be able to find some way to use the patches for PES3 or maybe they will have to make new ones.

And since you're burning any disc, CD or DVD, it will not be an original and so your PS2 won't play it unless it is modded or you use one of those methods to play foreign/backup discs.

Thanks for the info...just what I thought !

Besides the mod chip (I modded old PS1, but am reluctant to do it to PS2), what alternatives are there to playing non-original discs ?

I know things have been mentioned on these forums before, but find them unclear.

has all the info on all the methods.

1. Japanese PS2.
2. Mod chip.
3. Slide Card.
4. Flip Top Lid.
5. Knife Trick.

Check out the thread and then ask so we can try to sort out the unclarities. :)

If you don't want to chip your PS2, you could do what I did and buy a pre-chipped PS2.

(Supposably! ;) )

Hmm..slide card+SwapMagic looks the best option. Cheap too....shame psxservices.co.uk have sold out....I loathe to order from the states as I often get hit with customs taxes !!

One additional question. On standard game you can do a whole load of editing - kits, player features, transfers etc. These changes must be stored on your option file.

Using xport you can then access this option file on your PC.

Surely this means that it is possible to hack the data here and therefore the potential to edit kits etc, somehow here ?

No-one has managed to hack the option file on their PC yet.
You can open the .xps file with notepad but all you see is player names and a lot of gibberish.

Interesting idea but I don't think you could do anything to the option file which is outside of the in-game editor. If you know someone who might want to try it, go for it and let us know what happens.

have you a copy of an example option file you can email me to take a look at ? maybe collectively we (the forum members) can work something out ? email address is [email protected]

I haven't got an xport yet so can't use my option file !!

well, if you plan on getting PES3, you're best bet is to wait till you see IF patches are being made...that way, if none do, you won't have wasted money
