Playing patched PES4 on PSTwo Slimline

I've recently made a patched version of PES4, using jonboyo's final patch, and following Zyg's clear instructions to the letter.

I'm using a slim PSTwo, with the slimtool and swap magic. This works absolutely fine on import games (haven't tried any "backups"), but it doesn't seem to want to know on my patched PES4 (I've tried the whole process twice, and both discs have the same problem).

When I put the disc in (after using Swap Magic obviously), I get the language selection screen, then the display mode selection, and then it's just a blank screen. The disc is still spinning, but absolutely nothing else happens.

Has anyone else used a patched PES4 in a slim PSTwo (particularly with swapmagic, rather than a mod), and had success?

Any help much appreciated.

My brother has a PSTwo and he plays patched PES4 (JB's patch as well) with no problems at all! He has the new 'openable' lid as well as the swap-magic discs.

Are you sure it's not the media? What type of DVD-R are you using? Always use minus-R and make sure they are PS2 friendly i.e Ritek etc.

I'm using Sony DVD-Rs. How would I tell if they are PS2 friendly? - although Sony ones might not be, I suppose.

mine won't even load up the language page... I put the swap magic disc in, that loads ONLY if I hold the lid down (with the slide card fully installed it refuses to read anything, I insert my patched pes disc then it goes back to the swap magic thing and says that "this is not a PS2 disc" or something along those lines..... HELP

oh yeah and the brand is TDK DVD-R

Discs with quality brand names, such as Sony or Phillips are probabaly the better option for burning games.

so on the slimline (not sure if I am allowed to talk about this, if not sorry) I have a slide card and the larger part which holds the lid up doesn't fit in as the instructions show, and it just says "non PS2 disc" when I put my patched PES in there anyone else having these probs???? I'm getting VERY annoyed... do I need one of those lid things for it to work properly too?
