Playing Player out of position

Hi guys,

Just wondering if you play someone out of position do their stats go down? Im playing rapajic atm in my ML teams as a CF even though he is actually set as OMF, SMF and WF. If i dont play a player in what they are stated what happens? Thanks in advance

I am not sure to the answer to this. If it was a promising player then it does affect his ability points which you gain.

I play players out of position because i feel I benefit from them there. For example, I play Eddingson left wing. If you think you are a better side for doing so then what is the worry? Just keep him there until you get a decent striker before reverting him to his OMF position or whatever....

I don't think that putting a player out of position effects his stats. I use Del Pierro as a dmf and he is doing great!!! for the promising players Marky P is almost right. the only position that you can't get points is when your promising player is a keeper. no matter what he does (even if he gets a 10 in personal summary) its difficult to get more than 25 points

ok lets assume this question doesnt apply to promising players. For normal players surely it makes a difference, because you can give a player a primary position and secondary positions. If it didnt make any diff. i dont think konami would have gone to all that trouble also i notice with rapajic he just seems sharper and faster when i play him wide mid as opposed to CF which is not his natural position

Wow, anyone dare to play an outfield player as a GK (and I'm not talking about the real GK getting sent off, I mean like playing Cocu or Van Nistelrooy as a GK consistently while Van der Sar plays as a CF or OMF), see what happens then.

it does.....zyg has a thread which illustrates this...I saw it a few months ago.
I can't find it. Sure that wasn't the form arrows thread?

This is one of the mysteries of the game. Is there any way to check if playing out of position makes a difference?
I guess we could time how long it takes a player to run a certain distance on the pitch when he is in his preferred position and then again when he isn't.

I play Diarra (19, Lecce DM) at centre back, and he's gone well above his curve. Dagaka improves better in midfield as well.

I think it doesnt affect players individually, for example their stats won't decrease. But I think the overall team performance will suffer if the player playing out of position doesnt suit the new position.

For example oncemore, playing Sol Campbell on the left wing will be bad for your team as everytime you go out wide left, it's likely he'll lose the ball.

I reckon if a player is well suited in terms of skills, height and build for the new position then it would be fine, an idea that playing Papa Bouba Diop at centre back would have no negative effects on the team as he is big, strong, a good tackler and good in the air.

They are my views, goodnight!
