Problems with short passes

I have configured the controls for my Microsoft Sidewinder Freestyle Pro control pad. However I am having a problem with the short pass (X) button.
When i tap the button i have specified for this command, the power bar comes up in the bottom left of the screen and reaches maximum power, however long i press the button for. It just sends the short pass about 30 yards, and in a fairly random direction.

Has anyone else seen this, or know what I can do to solve it.

Thanks,
Richard

No, that isn't it.
The through ball button works fine, as does every other button. It just doesn't do what i expect it to do.

Thanks for your suggestion though.

im not all that familiar with the controller you mentioned
does it have any 'turbo' or any special features that could be altering the behavior of that button? does it behave properly in other games or in the windows joystick calibration section of the control panel

I think there were some issues with the sidewinder compatibility. This looks like one of them

RichardWilding... if you want to use the PS2 converter that has 2 controller ports you may have issues with the second controller playing up in 2 player mode.... I have one! I am happy with 1 controller in a 1 player game though!
