PS3 or XBOX 360

I myself, am going 360. Due to the amount of great games out/coming out at the moment. Eg: Lost Planet, Gears Of War, NBA 2k7 etc. And the only other consoles I have played are the Playstation and the Playstation 2 ( And the GameCube.... ), so I aint no fan boy. I think the real things that put me off of the PS3 was the Controller ( Hate the idea of playing.... GTA: 4 with the 6-axis  ), the price tag, and the annoying delays. But put it this way, whatever console you go for is going to be classic, and tons better than your current console I should think.

Tell that to Mr Dreamcast.

you dont have to use 6 axis, it can be disabled so playing GTA IV wont be a problem. the price isnt that bad if you think about all the stuff you get; blu-ray drive, internet browser, ability to install Linux OS, 60gb hard drive, built in wireless connection, HDMI port, SD memory card reader, psp connevtivity, so in the long run you save quite a bit (blu-ray players by themselves cost over £1000). PS3 blu--ray discs hold 30gb+ of game data, whereas xbox 360s standard dvd games hold 4.7gb, or 15gb if you have a £150 hd dvd drive accessory. im also not a fan boy, i bought a 360 yesterday, but the ps3 is by far more superior to xbox 360.

plus ps3 has metal gear solid, devil may cry and gran turismo exclusive

I agree.

When you compare the technology used in both consoles, then the PS3 is by far the better investment. But then again, the original Xbox had the better technology when compared to the PS2 but the variety of the games is where the PS2 beat the Xbox.

I do think that the inclusion of the Blu-Ray drive in the PS3 will be absolutely crucial to the life of the PS3 and it's games. When you look back at the Xbox/PS2 war, both consoles had their games stored on a DVD. I believe that this is why there wasn't a significant difference between the graphics on a PS2 and the graphics on an Xbox. Sure, there was some notable differences in the graphics on the Xbox but let's face it; it was nothing spectacular (when compared to the PS2 graphics).

Again with the Xbox 360, Microsoft have gone down the DVD road and decided to use Dual/Double Layer discs for their games. It can be argued that they can hold twice the amount of game data that regular Xbox games could but what happens when they reach the limit of the Dual Layer DVD? My guess is that the console will then reach it's graphical limit.

At least with the PS3's Blu-Ray drive, there is years of development ahead for the disc format which will only lead to improvements in the games (and the graphical side of things of course).

I don't think Microsoft can use their external HD-DVD drive to develop games for the 360 which basically means having to buy an external HD-DVD drive in order to play the latest games. To say the least, it would cause a major stir amongst the Xbox community (what with spending £200+ already just to get the base console). I think what Microsoft might do to counteract the capabilities of the PS3's Blu-Ray format is to release the 3rd edition of the Xbox. My guess is that it will be out before 2010 (which is probably halfway through the PS3's lifespan).
