meh I just thought u pressed the direction u wanted to curl it... but it all also depends on how the player is gonna kick it...

Maybe im wrong, but I thought it said something about the R3 button, when doing the training for free kicks. Ah well, maybe not.

R3 kicks the ball out when you are taking a free kick with two people, thats about it.

I cant seem to get any curl on my shots anyway, still manage to score though. ;)

Well all i do is hold down the direction you want the ball to swerve once you have put the amount of power you want to put in the shot the ball hits the back off the net most of the time.

Hold left or right as the show power bar rises to curl it (depending on which foot the player is using).

I think the R3 lay-offs only go straight into the patch of the kicker so not much control available there.

Are we talking about curling free-kicks or in open play? I thought you couldn't curl the ball in open play, it was all down to the attributes of the kicker and the situation he is in?

when you lay it off to someone in a free kick, before you lay it off make sure you are aiming towards the post, then lay it off, and if right footed, hold the shot up about half way then hold forward and left. The ball will curl ALOT and usualy go into the top corner. You can do this from about 32m MAX.

P.S when i say aim towards post i mean the one the keeper is standing in.

ive been trying this a while ago and i think it acctually works ussally my freekicks are on target but moving the R3 but effects the direction i was forcing it like 40 or so degrees to the right and the ball would curl quite alot but it wasnt on target ill have to try it on training soon

As Zygalski already said:

R1 + Shoot is less height more power
R2 + Shoot is the reverse

Holding Up on the D-pad while powering up the FK is extreme power but hardly any height.

While holding Down on it has the reverse effect.

Curl can be applied at anytime after pressing shoot to the foot actually hitting the ball.
