Ok, i'll try to make this as short as possible:
Btw, Iv searched on all other threads concerning this but have all failed to help...Anyway, i am definitely getting a network adaptor (simply as pes5 is on network play), but im not sure where the ethernet cable plugs into. First off, iv done sooo much research, but all the info i read confuses me...im not entirely sure as to whether the ethernet cable has to plug into a broadband modem or not. Can it merely be plugged into a telephone port anywhere in the house in order to provide internet access? Moreover, what's the difference between a network adaptor and an ethernet? Carrying on, i have a PC downstairs and my ps2 is upstairs in my room. I want to be able to play online while my sister/mum/dad can also surf the net. Iv read about wireless routers (to avert having exceedingly long cables down the hallway) but am still very uncertain about how they work, were to put them, what they connect to etc. I know iv forgotten to mention something, but this is most likely more than enough...
Any help whatsoever would be deeply appreciated :D

Hi,
For info regarding ps2 networking go to www.playstation.co.uk and they have all info. I have my ps2 online and my ethernet cable is plugged into my LINKSYS ADSL gateway box and the other end goes into my ps2 network adapter (old ps2) I have no problems and people can surf the net at the same time.

Hope this helps

So i dont need any extra hardware to allow a shared internet connection between my PC and ps2? Iv been on playstation.com on countless occasions, and it informs me of what you said, but i only have one free port on my ADSL modem and that is plugged into the phone...O ye and is your modem moderately near your ps2 console? Because mine are far away from one another. Thanks for your help zidane.

Is there any ethernet ports on your adsl because the cable to connect your ps2 is a different connection to your phone line. The cat5 cable is an ethernet cable meaning you need a modem with ethernet ports. You woud'nt need hardware if you have ethernet ports in your modem. Oh and regarding the modem it isn't near my ps2. At the mo ihave to go downstairs to play online. I am getting a 10m cable and taking that upstairs.
