I have been looking through this forum at people's ideas on how to 'improve' the game or make it 'harder'.
I was finding 2 things with the game so frustrating.
1. Lack of goals in games
2. Lack of Computer having pressure/shots on my goal
So, I decided to implement some changes. These were simple and took about an hour. I didn't touch any player stats, I just went into the 'game plan' settings for EVERY team on the game (except International sides).
I made the following changes
1. Made all teams OFFENSIVE. Set the number to 18 out of 20
2. Made all teams 'loose' when pressuring the ball. Set the number to 2 out of 20
3. Deleted all the management sliders from every team. These are the things can say if you're losing your CB will 'overlap' or 'Offensive possession' etc...
Like I said, I did this for EVERY team. I then started a new ML with Norwich City in NPower Championship.
Started the season well, winning a couple of games, but straight away I've noticed a difference. It doesn't smack you in the face blatantly, but games are more open, due to the space of not being hounded so much by other players. The teams keep a better shape and the Computer has had more of a go and created a lot of chances.
Anyway, continued my good run and then last night had some proper good PES moments. Playing Middlesbrough, I was 4-1 down after 35 minutes, Kris Boyd running riot. They absolutely tanked me for 45 minutes, it was relentless. Never seen this in this game before and even though I was losing, I enjoyed it. I got back to 4-2, which is how it ended, but Middlesbrough should have had 6 or 7.
Next up I played Hull City. They beat me 3-0 at my place. They were clinical and hit me on the break. Finally, I then had a game v Coventry City. At half-time it was Norwich 0-2 Coventry. Again, they were sharp up front and were attacking at will. Second half I managed to get one back and then peppered their goal but just couldn't get through. Then came a proper fist pumping PES moment. 89th minute corner, whipped in, players miss it, Holt steams in at far post and smashes in the leveller. Fucking Superb!!
Granted, I've had some dire 0-0 slog outs as well but look at real Football. How many teams have a 4-2 thriller each week?
A week ago I'd given up on this game but it's re-ignited my interest, I am loving it again. Bit of tidying the house this morning, keep the missus sweet, then it's back to the ML. Coming off the back of a 2-1 win at Cardiff - Ledley, my number 6, drilling the winner home against his former club. Roll on Sheffield United...
