Some basic questions about the game

Hi guys,

To start with, I wanna say that this will be the first time I'll be buying a pes game. I never really bought pes, instead I always had the chance to just play it at my friends and sometimes I had the chance to play the demo of pes' version. I never really liked it, and to be honest the reason is I didn't care of real life simulation. Or maybe I did, but I thought that animations were realism. I never really understood when people said that Pes was a more realistic game than Fifa. Everytime they said that, I would be sitting on my chair and thinking: ''how the hell can they say that''?

ALL OF A SUDDEN with Pes 12 I've realized that Fifa never was a realistic game. It just had the fancy good looking animations. To be honest with you guys.. I could write a whole story of how I've had it with pes vs fifa in the past. But I just got some questions about PES 12 that I will for the first time buy next week.

____________________________________________________________

1: First off I wanna know how many stadiums there are. I'm asking this because I've only seen very few stadiums on youtube and its just got stuck on me lately. Like the KONAMI stadium for Real Madrid and other high club matches. Etc. So if you could tell me how many stadiums there are approximately in PES or just tell me if the majority of the big names are there? Like wembley stadium, bernabeu stadium, camp nou etc etc?

2: Can you change weather options pre-match in Exhibition mode?

3: Are there snowy/rainy matches in PES?

4: How is the player edit system compared to fifa's player edit mode? Can we for example edit hairs/facial hairs of real players like torres, ronaldo etc?

5: Is there some sort of career mode, similar to Fifa's? You know just a mode where you play through seasons, buy/sell players, grow up youth players etc?

6: I know that KONAMI hasn't got license for most of the teams, but does this mean that teams like real madrid, barca will have awkward kits and stuff? And how many teams are there in general, or just leagues?

7: Is online mode laggy (This is more of a question towards people with good internet connection)

I won't even bother asking questions about the gameplay, as it is the gameplay that I've fallen in love with it

....yes to your first question, old trafford, San siro x2, nou camp, wembley, benfica, Porto, sporting Lisbon, maracana, and a few others, also room to add 20 more stadiums I believe (might be wrong) but creative people make stadiums and they are brilliant efforts

Q2&3 yes (except not sure about snow come to think of it)

4 you can edit the crap out of PES look out for option files they are amazing again by very talented fans

5 the master league too me the best thing about PES much more fun than career mode in FIFA when I played 2010

6 licenses Dutch, spanish, most of Italy, some Portuguese, some EPL, copa libertores teams and CL teams are generally licensed, again the file makers do the rest

I've played 120 games online in MLO and I could count on 1 hand the either disconnected or laggy games so not really an issue for me

--I think there are around 30 stadiums. Most need renamed so you need a lookup list. as OrlandoSpur wrote creating stadiums are a nice bonus. I hope for more export file stadiums this year versus people just posting formulas.
--No snow only rain
--not sure about facial hair - couldnt' add or remove in 2011 (Cesc Fabergas for example) but haven't checked 2012
--OF can be a nuisance to deal with, just in the time to download and upload (more or less than 1 hour however) but thanks to our glorious makers they are more than worth it in the end. Don't let it prevent you.
--online varies for me with a good connection - sometimes laggy, sometimes great - very inconsistent.

Yes, PES has Wembley, Bernabeu, Camp Nou, Old Trafford, San Siro, Juventus Stadium, Allianz Arena, Estadio De Luz, Dragao, and loads more. Lots of licensed stadiums which look very nice indeed, and some generic ones too. If that's not enough, you can use the Stadium Editor to build a load more.

2: Can you change weather options pre-match in Exhibition mode?

Yes - weather and night/day/dusk.

3: Are there snowy/rainy matches in PES?

They removed snow, but rain is still there.

4: How is the player edit system compared to fifa's player edit mode? Can we for example edit hairs/facial hairs of real players like torres, ronaldo etc?

Player edit is 100000 times better than FIFA. You can edit players down to the last detail, in much more depth than you'd ever need to. Eyebrow height, nose depth, all this stuff. It's amazing.

5: Is there some sort of career mode, similar to Fifa's? You know just a mode where you play through seasons, buy/sell players, grow up youth players etc?

You've never heard of Master League (or Football Life as it's called now)? Oh man, you've got something to look forward to. In terms of depth (and being bug-free) it makes FIFA's career mode look like a joke.

6: I know that KONAMI hasn't got license for most of the teams, but does this mean that teams like real madrid, barca will have awkward kits and stuff? And how many teams are there in general, or just leagues?

The lack of licenses in PES is overstated. It's really just the English league and Portuguese league (and some national teams) which appear unlicensed, with fake names and kits, apart from a couple of teams in each, which are fully licensed - and even then, the player names and likenesses are correct for the unlicensed teams. An option file will solve this small problem.

The Spanish, Italian, Dutch and French leagues are fully licensed. There's also a "rest of Europe" section with about 30 Champions League / Europa League teams, and they're all fully licensed too. There's also the Copa Libertadores, which is fully licensed as well.

The German league doesn't appear at all - but there are a couple of completely fake leagues in the game which are just there for editing, and one of these can be edited to make the German league. Again, an option file will do this for you, with proper team names, kits, rosters etc.

7: Is online mode laggy (This is more of a question towards people with good internet connection)

Dunno yet, cos I'm in Britain and we don't have the game yet. It's usually OK - some games are laggy, some are perfect. Same as most games. It's not a seamless online experience, but it's no worse than FIFA.

That's not true, sadly. Murphy was talking about importing/exporting created teams, not whole option files.

You still have to do it the old way, with the USB stick and copying over loads of files individually. Takes half an hour or so, but it's worth it.

Halfrax correct here. and to work with a large set of teams much faster to go the old option file route vesus import/export. Import/Export is nice when you want to simply augment an option file with a few created teams.

So what is these option files? I see lots of pes fans praising this feature. What can you do with this feature and more so how do you do it?

You just find a good option file to download from the internet (there will be some uploaded here, and at other sites like WENB and Evo-Web), one which has the extra leagues you want. Put it on a USB stick and copy the files across to your PS3 or X-Box. Full instructions for installing it will be included in the file, or on the forum where you download the file. And if you're playing on PC it's even easier.

What you get is all team names, league names and cup names corrected, and all the kits fixed for unlicensed clubs. This is not home-made kits from edit mode, it's proper photo-realistic kits made in Photoshop which look just as good as the official ones in the game. You can also have the German league included, or the English 2nd tier (for Master League), or various others.

Basically, once you've loaded it up the game looks fully licensed. Option files also work online.

Amazing! But I assume it's a hard thing to do considering you download such a huge file, and i don't even know how to do it yet. But I'll wait till I get the game, and then let time show the rest.
