Tactics help

hello, for the record I'm not an Arsenal fan this is my brothers username. I support my local team Newcastle. Anyway, my freind has a Real madrid team which he made in master league, dead good like. I play a standard newcastle team with Shearer and Bellamy up front.

I'm really good at possesion football and always used to get goals p until a while ago when he decided to change his tactics so in effect he had a bus parked in the box. With Thiery Henry and Ronhaldinhio he scores goals on counter attacks very well. (espeacialy against aaron hughes and Titus Brambel). I play a 4132 system because it works mainly but the defence is rubbish.

So, without suggesting any other players which are in the newcastle default squad (i.e. not Boumsong, Babayaro. But I have woodgate!) can you give me any advice on what tactics I should use, foramtions wise. I thought about three up front, any good?

Ok I'll tell you the whole team I ussualy put out.

Given
Hughes, Bramble, Woodgate, bernard
But
Jenas, Dyer, Robert
Bellamy, Shearer

The subs I have availabel are
Harper
Elliot, O'Brian
Gavilian
Bowyer, Ambrose
Kluijvert, Ameobi, Milner

If I make a sub it's usualy Milner or Ameobi on for shearer. Bellamy makes great complement for Sheare because of bellamy's pace and Shearers finishing. So I usualy of set the front two so that Shearer goes slightly ahead of him and Bellamy can make runs in off the right side. I'm really good at passing through his midfield but like I say, lately He's brought his midfield back and stuck one up fron so when i get to the box it's hard for me to play on the deck football, which i tend to do.

Drop one of your defenders. Play 3 at the back and move Jenas back along side Butt to protect the defence. The pick a 2 wide midfielders to push forward and an attacking midfielder. Then your 2 up front.

Perhaps drop Woodgate deep to play as a sweeper to contain the pace of Henry or perhaps man mark Ronaldinio.

I would definitely cram the midfield though as Newcastles midfielders are definitely better than the defenders

I could put bellamy down the right and field Ameobi up front with Shearer. Then drop Jenas back like you say, but I'm not sure of his deffensive quality, maybe Gavilian instead.

Also he's got a very good midfield. Ibrahimaovic, Nedved, Van Bommel, Wright philips. Thats one of the line ups he used anyway. With henry and Ronaldinhio up front. I can get throught hem alright for atack but when I lose the ball it seems to get back to my half in a flash.

I am not that good on Newcastle as I have never played using them but what about playing Milner on the right with Dyer as your attacking midfielder ? Youve also got Bowyer there - Isnt Kluivert any good on PES ?

I don't like Kluivert because he just doesn't fit. Hes not fast and hes not as good as Shearer at his finishing. Yeh hes got skill but that not what i want. Ameobi's tall and can move well.

Dyer up fornt could work though. And yeh, I forgot Bowyer. Maybe him in the center of the front three in midfield.

I think you have a few options going forward but your big problem seems to be defensively. Just get that extra line of defence and things should be better.

I wouldnt worry too much though as it seems that you trying to play against a World Eleven so he is bound to have the upper hand.

Let us know how you get on. But remember I always play as Birmingham City so what chance would I have against that team !!!

Try using 4-4-2 but with the diamond. Have your usual 4 defenders so that you basically have a 2 to 1 ratio against the attackers. Then, toggle your midfielders attacking position (Its in individual tactics) have Dyer on the right wing (hes too quick for some defenders and robert on the left (i know he shouldnt play their but if he gets the ball, move infield with him, this should draw space through the middle as their left back and left centre back should try and come to meet you.) As an attacking midfielder, try Milner just behind the front two of Shearer and Bellamy. Then you have two options of attack, you can go straight through the middle by strecthing the other team out by passing from left to right to middle or vise-versa, or you can bomb crosses in from the right with dyer as I have him in my team and he whips in a pretty mean ball! Thats the best i can come up with for Newcastle!!
