The Getaway 2

The Getaway 2 is set for release in April 2004 after SCEE set its release date a week or two ago. And the setting has changed from London to the streets of Liverpool!
GAME have started accepting PRE-ORDERS to!

Nothing on the official Getaway site about it however! It's number 5 on the wanted list in the OPS2M and until about 6 hours ago, I was unaware that the Getaway 2 even existed!

I wonder what the story line will be? - Meaning your ideas please

I'm not sure what the storyline will be but i wonder if the scouse setting will mean the use of scouse/northern stereotypes (accent, clothing etc....), in a Harry Enfields' scousers style. it wouldn't surprise me.

i luv films like this, and getaway reminds me exactly of films like fight club, snatch, lock stock smoking barrels etc etc
i reckon in this one you've been set up by sum1 and your gonna be the most wanted man by tha police.
Regardless on what tha new addition is going to include, i still luved tha last one, tha whole atmosphere was class

The Getaway 2 - First details:

'This time round you play some East End "geezer" called Eddie O'Connor. Eddie divides his time between amateur boxing, working as a bouncer, and providing his dubious talents to the local criminal fraternity. He's probably having his voice supplied by some ex-public schoolboy toff called Tristan, but make no bones about it, Eddie is a bit of a rascal.

The plot's still hush-hush at this stage, but expect the usual Lock Stock and Two Smoking Cockneys schtick that the last game relied on; O'Connor gets lured ever more deeply into the mire of criminal life, at which stage we suspect he finds himself nicking cars, shooting rozzers and generally being a little bit "whay".'

The getaway was a decent game but it lacked seriously in gameplay but it was a very good filmesque type of game. I hope it is more GTA like. I hope you can control london and build a crime empire. Also I hope there is more weapons and gun fighting gameplay. Also I hope there is a more interactive enviorment....coz in the last game it was very dumb.

there was talk of a just expanded london, such a shame too

in the original there was a bit of blocked off motorway

(down from madam tussards and the planetarium - the green dome roofed building which is near the hsbc bank with the supercar down the alley)

where if the view had been right you couldve looked down it and seen a block of flats which my house is right next to

I was reading about the getaway 2 today. I reckon it's trying to be a realistic gta. Looks good and the locations seem alot more interactive, anyone seen the pic where there's a shoot out on the rooftops, looks straight out of some gangster flick. Also I read there's better AI with gangs hunting you down in a manhunt style, and cops/swat searching the area, mgs style.

I don't think its set in Liverpool, how long did it take them to digitally recreate London (about 3 years or someit) I'd love it too be in scouse land cause I spent 4 years at uni there, and I'd be like my mate is now(who lived in London.) and say stuff like
" what you wanna get down the docks, you don't wanna take that route!" like he does.

Ive heard nothing about motorcycles but Driver 3 is confirmed to have them.
