The Perfect World Cup (ps2) .....

Dr. Bob Kelso

Welcome back...
Warning the following takes time to get right and may result in some banging of heads against walls which I take no responsibility for whatsoever. If you have time on your hands and want the perfect world cup setup read on.

After reading about how people can't get the group stages right so that teams play each other when they should I decided to try and see if I could work out a system so as to improve the chances of this happening.

I think I have done so.

What you do is you take the first match of any group and set it so that the designated home side (top seed) is the first team in that group but the side they play is the last. It is also important that you have the side they play next as the second team in that group as this seems to be the pattern the games follow the majority of the time. (If you don't understand don't worry I have set the groups up as they should be below)

This is by no means a fool proof system but it seems that this combonation comes out more often than the others (from the numerous times I have tried it). Why I don't know.

Anyway for the best chance of getting your world cup spot on put your groups as the following.

Numeric

GER POL ECU COSTA - 1

FRA SOK TOG SUI - 2

ARG SMG HOL CIV - 3

BRA AUS JAP CRO - 4

ESP TUN SAB UKR - 5

ENG TRI SWE PAR - 6

ITA USA CZE GHA - 7

MEX ANG POR IRN - 8

In Real life winner of A plays runner up of B but in Pro Evo set up winner of 1 plays runner up of 6 - so Germany (if they win the group) Could play Paraguay (should they finish runners up) this makes Germanys group 1 group A and Englands group b group 6. In real life winner of C then plays D but in pro evo winner of 3 plays 8 therefore Argentinas c becomes group 3 and mexicos d becomes group 8 and so on.

Obviously you will have to set the groups up a few times for it to work perfectly with every game being played on the right day but once you have simply save the setup and you can play the world cup as it should be
as and when you like. Oh another big tip is choose all 32 players as then you can start from scratch with anyside you like rather than having to be one designated side from your save or you can even be one of the sides from each group or even each match.

Hope this helped.

p.s the euphoria of actually getting the groups as they are after numerous attempts is unmatched except by getting to play the perfect world cup. :D

Just the problems of getting the right teams now eg. Angola are not in pes5, patches can soon sort that out but o/f users will face problems.

Not just that. I think if you want to be really fussy teams 2 and 3 in the leagues seem to play each other first. Something I missed.

After I have played this game I will try putting the teams that play first as 2 and 3 but to be honest I'm not too bothered at the moment.

i.e New group 1 would look like this Ecuador, Costa Rica, Germany, Poland.

There are a couple of threads on this topic. You can make the groups but there is no way to play the real world cup of 2006 in PES5 or WE10 as the teams do not cross over to the other side of the tree for the QFs.
