A Guide On How To Get This All Working....[It worked for me this way anyway!]
Hi guys
I notice ALOT of people asking the same q's over and over......so here is a guide to how I got it all to work.
1] Before even bothering with the option file itself, get your PS3 connected to the internet. If this isn't possible then the OF isn't going to work so forget it. When you have an internet connection, load up PES2009, and from the main menu got to 'System Settings'. From that screen click on the very last title which is 'Download'. After that it will ask you to confirm whatever the latest download is [in my case it was the new england kit] so just accept it whatever it is, as the latest download will work regardless. It asks you things regarding over-writing data, but seen as your about to change all the data anyway it doesn't matter what you press.
2] Now you have the latest updates it's on to the OF itself. I've read some people are confused as to which download they need from the list on the first post. Basically if this is the first time you've used the OF then you need the full version, which is the first file on its own, above the list of previous downloads. That alone is all you need to download. Click on the link, then go through the process of downloading the file to your PC.
3] Now you have the file on you PC, you need to extract the contents from the folder. The program I used to do this is WinRAR, but I'm sure there are other 'unzip' programs you can use. Simply open the folder 'Von_Option_File_2.04' [or which ever update it is] and then there is another folder of the same name. Open that up and the next folder you come to is titled 'PS3'. This is the folder you need to extract. I simply drag and dropped the folder onto my desktop, and waited for it to transfer all the files. The original downloaded 'Von... folder is no longer needed so delete it. You now have the OF ready for transfer to a memory stick/card/pen etc. It is important that you leave the file titled 'PS3' as if you change its name your console will not recognise the folder.
4] The next step is transfering the folder 'PS3' to a memory device. Everyone is going to use different types so it's pointless me going through this process [and I'm assuming everyone on here is more than capable of doing this without instruction]. One tip though: if you use a mobile phone to transfer the folder, it needs to have a memory card. The console won't recognise data from a mobile memory itself, it needs to be stored on a removable card.
5] So now your PS3 has its updates, you have the correct folder with the correct name on a memory device, the next step is connecting it to the PS3 via the front USB port. Then, on your PS3 main menu, not PES2009, go into 'Save Data'. This shows you all the game data that you have saved during your game play, and if you have already been playing and saving on PES2009, then you will already have data there for PES2009. What you need to find is the USB device / Memory Stick Icon, open that up, there you will find all you PES2009 files which is what needs copying to the console. But first I recommend you find the file 'Edit Data', which is the only one of it's kind in all the files that are there. Copy that one to the console via the triangle button, and if you have previous saved data for PES2009, it will ask you if you want to over-write it. Do so, and then load the game up as normal. The game should load up as normal, showing the information about 'Auto-save', then 'Loading System Data', followed by 'Loading Edit Data'. If you get a message saying the Edit Data couldn't be loaded due to your console needing updates then you didn't complete step 1 properly. Go back and re-do the step 1 process. If it loaded fine, then it's best to do a quick check and make sure everything is in order. Either go to the 'Edit' section, or start the process of playing an 'Exhibition' game, and check that club names/team rosters are have updated. If all is ok then it's looking good.
6] The final step is the time consuming/boring part of copying all the individual files from your Memory Device onto the console HDD. Go back to the PS3 main menu and copy all the individual logo's and faces from the Memory Device. After several copies your fingers get into a rythym and it becomes quite fast and easy. When they're all done, load the game as normal, and there you have it!
Notes:
Here is some things I've picked up that people have problems with:
- This process only works with the UK Pal version of PES2009. Several people have tried and failed to get this working with other nations formats
- Again, the most important thing you need is a connection to the internet, without it this is wasting your time. Also, the update which you need for this to work is something which your PS3 itself needs to download from the internet. There is no file which you can download onto a Memory Device and transfer it that way, it doesn't work like that
- It isn't possible to group together all the individual files and copy them all to the PS3 in one go. They must be done one at a time
If there is anything I've missed then please feel free to add on. I've been as accurate as possible, and can definately confirm this process works as it is what I did step by step
Just a final point, the reason I've gone to such a length with these instructions is that Muff has done all the hard work making the OF, you can't really expect him to keep answering Q after Q about the same problems
Cheers for a great OF Muff :w00t
