Warriors Unite Tournament - London

Warriors Unite Tournament

Okay, i dont know if this is the best place to post this, but i cant exactly post this on the player creation forums or kit forums, so i'll do it here.

This tournament will be held in Funland, Trocadero (London), it will host mostly beat 'em up games (hence the name), but it will also feature a pro evolution 3 tournament, and already by the early response it seems that pro evo 3 will be by far the most popular game there with the most players.

So this a invitation from the organisers (Ullysis Professional Gaming) to all the pro evo 3 players out there to come and participate in this event and win great prizes and to stake your claim as the best player out there.

This tournament will feature foreign competition as well from France, Italy, Spain among others, so lets hope we dont have a Germany V England shootout again!

This tournament will run from the 18th- 21th december (thursday-Sunday) tournament will start at 12pm (midday) on all the days and end depending on the matches.

Entry fee is £5 for one game £10 for three games and £25 for the lot (other games on show are tekken tag, soul calibur 2, halo etc.)

Best thing to do is to come to the tourny from where you live and then go home at the end of the tourny and come back at the start of play the next day or stay at the accommodation which you will have to pay for.

Prizes will really depend on how many people show up, least will be £100 for first place and the most for first place will be £1000.

If you have any questions then post it her, i'll try to get it answered.

Remember this is about earning a stake to be one of the best out there as well as the prizes.

Sounds great. I'll hopefully be able to come down.

A few questions to save them being asked by others:
How many PS2s will be used for PES3?
What are the rules for the camera settings?
What form arrows will the players be set to? (usually putting them all on red up arrows works best).
Can memory cards be used to load formation settings?
I'm assuming that the tournament will be for national teams only and that you have to stick to a single team?

Just wait for a reply from M@XiMus - I bet he's going to say that you should save time and just crown him the champ now! :D

The rules are still being decided.

But most probably, the arrows will be red (full), only international teams, maybe clubs but no master league teams.

No memory cards allowed because people may have players with improved stats.

Camera angle, (maybe) first half- player 1 chooses the angle and then player 2 picks the camera angle in the second half.

You should be able to change teams during the tournamnet.

And i dont exatly know how many consoles they'll be.

These are just word of mouth, because rules are still being decided.

By the way...where did you get that jacko dancing icon?

Thanks for clearing up the rules.
I just found Jacko doing his thing somewhere. Can't remember where exactly.

Some people don't understand this but the fact is that you can't change player stats by using formation saves from the memory card. Only if you load an option file can the players and teams etc be changed. If people only put in their memory cards on the Formation Data Manager screen and take them out again after loading, there would not be any change to the game besides the formation being available to use. But someone would need to keep an eye on when people are putting in their mem cards so it could be difficult to enforce.
Is there a time limit for people to create their formations from scratch?

No time limit on formations, one thing though- if someone pauses the game during the match then that could lead to the player being disqualified, apprantely something to do with distraction.

Early indications show 500+ players for pro evolution 3.

Funland is in the Trocadero in Central London.
A map for this can be seen here.
Closest Tube station is Picadilly Station.

There is some info on the Trocadero here or you can use Google for more.

Some of the following info is old but some is new so:

Hi everyone,

I am helping to run a knockout games tournament in December for some games, in association with Ullysis Professional Gaming.
The games are Halo, Soul Calibur 2, Tekken 4, Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, and of course PES 3
All the games are on PS2 version, except Street Fighter which will be arcade.
The tourney is called "Warriors Unite: The Road to Absolution" (Absolution is a bigger tourney planned for April involving more games, but still including the ones mentioned above).

Entry Fee:
5 quid for 1 game
10 quid for 3 games
15 quid for all 5 games

Prizes (for each game):
1st - 100 quid
2nd - 75 quid
3rd - 50 quid

The dates are Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st December. Thursday will just be for signups (and most likely practice as well), and the actual tourneys will take place over the weekend.

The main webpage is http://www.ullysis.com/ and the details so far are at http://www.ullysis.com/news/?mode=article&newsid=3

It will be held in London Trocadero, near Piccadilly Circus. I'm sure most Londoners know where that is, but you can find directions at http://www.londontrocadero.com/contact.html
and the map here http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?P2M?P=W1J0TR&Z=1

The PES3 rules haven't been totally decided yet, but most likely we will follow similar rules to the official PES League.. except you will be able to use your own controllers. And it will DEFINITELY be on 60Hz of course

I dunno whether to allow memory cards though.. some people say it can make the players unfairly stronger? Is there any truth in this?

The signup page on ullysis.com will be up very soon.

Here are the results for Pro Evo 3 at Warriors Unite, 19th December 2003

1st Trixi (Timi)
2nd Rago (Paul Wallace)
3rd Lethal B (Bade)
4th Femi Paul

The prizes were:

1st Prize £50 cash + free entry to Absolution tournament (in April)
2nd and 3rd Prize: free entry to Absolution tournament (in April)

It sucks that the prize had to be changed at the last minute.. I will make sure this does not happen again. I think a percentage based on the pot (like in American tournies) would be a better prize.

We had 24 entrants in total (I can list all the entrants if you guys want). Congrats to the winner and placers, and thanks to everyone for coming, hope you had fun!

BIG thanks to Femi, irfydude, Lethal B and the others (sorry I forget names easily) for helping out running the tourney.. you guys really helped a lot!

The tourney took about 6 hours (1pm-7pm or so.. luckily we had the whole day to ourselves, the other games are on Saturday ), and it went pretty smoothly aside from one guy disputing the rules (about how many should qualify from the groups).

I made sure everyone was agreeable to the rules just before the tourney started. Not surprisingly, the guy who complained was the one who arrived late.. figures
It is NOT about changing the rules halfway through unless it's an emergency or a very good reason (which isn't not fair, and usually causes more arguments than it solves).

Anyway, hope to see you all PESers in April, or one of the future leagues/tournies in Harrow.

Thanks again!
Time to beat people in Tekken and Street Fighter today.. wish me luck

Rehan (Dead Man Inc.)

Congrats to Timi.
