1. Yes, the patching technically overwrites the ISO and doesn't create any other ISO.

2. Some patches only change the games "image", it doesn't change the game's database. i.e. Fake kits replaced with real kits.

Some patches changes the game completely by adding addition things that weren't in the game to begin with. Like inserting more teams, more boots, and etc...

Don't worry I think you didn't do anything wrong.

Thanks alot for the rapid answer! Nice to see that this forum is really helpful!:)

I´ll burn it tonight and then I just have to wait one week for my PS2 to be modded...arghhh!;)

The BEST media you can use is ridisk - purple - 4x. The speed is important as the lower the speed the darker the dye will be on the disk meaning your ps2 laser will have to work less, thats fr those with older ps2's and weak lasers. The state of sony's lasers is a fucking JOKE, they are so shit. Sony have packed the ps2 full of shitty parts compared to gamecube and X-Box. ....anyway thats for a different, hope this helps u and all others that need advice about media.!!!!!!

Cheers wu tang gonna try this media.

And also does anyone know if you can get Sony Blank DVD's yet????

i was reading that they are going to bring out some blank DVD media thats going to give almost perfect quality when burning say high defination video editing onto it.

Read the patching guide in General Editing, right at the top.

Thanks Zygalski, that´s exactly what I did...otherwise I wouldn´t have come as far as I did.:) Splendid guide!

As this was the first time I tried patching I wasn´t sure if everything was ok as the original ISO was the exact same size as the patched ISO and that made me suspicious. I kind of thought that after downloading and applying a patch of approx. 700Mb, the size of the ISO should change, but I don´t know anything about patching so I assume I´m wrong.

Thanks to Uchiha Itachi I now know that this is perfectly normal when patching.

Hi.

xps = use an x-port
max = use a max drive
bin+cue = use the cd2mem method.

We don't know when version 1.0 will be released. We are all waiting eagerly :)

Hi everyone!

My PS2 came back from modding yesterday and eager as I am, I had already prepared a patched DVD of WE8LE since a week.:)

First time I booted the PS2...it just froze! It´s never happened to me before (in 4 years of PS2 gaming) so I rebooted the machine and the game started fine.

The game is a big step from PES4 in many ways, but I´m having big problems with slowdowns, sometimes even in midfield. It´s not happening at all arenas, but in most of them.:( Is this due to the patch or what could be the problem? Could it be that I´ve used a "bad" dvd for the patched game or is my PS2 just crappy? Does this happen to anyone else?

The option to choose 50 or 60Hz is gone, why is that? Any one who knows?

Thanks for any advice.:)

Japanese games do not give the Hz option - they are all on 60Hz.
If you followed the patching guide then you would have burnt at the slowest speed possible. If not, then that could be a reason for slowdown.

Other than that, slowdown can be reduced by turning off stadium effects and the crowd, and playing on certain pitches where the crowd is further away from the pitch.

Thanks Zygalski!:)

I should have been smart enought to realise that they don´t have the 50Hz option i Japan.:)

It´s not slowdown as I know it from PES4, it´s a more subtle drop in framrate and it makes the game run slower. The game is also very slow during match lineups, for example, the players runs in slow motion onto the pitch and they wave to the crowd in slow motion when they are finally on the pitch.

Could this be due to bad DVD burning or is it the patch? I´m trying to find out if it could be a good idea to burn a new DVD (other brand) in slower speed to get rid of these problems.

I burned it in 2,4x which is the slowest possible for that DVD brand. I burned in DVD Decrypter and the program gave me the option to burn in 1x, but the disc said 2,4x, so I burned it in 2,4x. Do you think I should have burned it in 1x?

Yepp, I´ve tried turning down the crowd (to 2 stars in both Home and Away) and turning off the stadium effects.

Thanks!

yeah that happens to me as well, but i did the same thing for previous pro evo patches and didnt get any slow down on it. I burnt at 2x so maybe we should try doing it at 1x next time. Also try using nero to burn it.

There is a small chance of that but 2x should be fine.
It could depend what else was running on your pc while you were burning.
Best not to run any other programs while burning.

Also you can try defragmenting your hard disk.

It's not the burn process that causes the slowdown, i think the patch unintentionally makes those parts of the game (e.g entrance scenes) to run at lower rate.

I burnt my one at 1x in nero using Ritek DVD-R.

Also when the keeper is taking a goal-kick when u move his view around to select where to kick it to, i also noticed a reduced framerate.
Lucky Reefur's patch makes this game way too awesome to even care about these slowdowns.

cheers guys

If you're sure it's the game that is slowing down, then go to exhibition mode and change the match settings to:

stadium effects off.
crowd on zero stars.
and choose to play on a pitch where the crowd is far away from the pitch, such as the one to the right of old trafford and the one which used to be called Maze Hills (last in the list or one from the end). These should help reduce slowdown.
Also, some people have said that using the default-long camera has no slowdown.

good luck.
