Hey All
Just got the December Edition of the PSM2 magazine who have written a review on the import version of Winning Eleven 9:UE on the PSP, and sadly they have deemed it worthy of a score as pitiful as 79%!
Just to sum up, the main problems that have resulted in this dismal score are as follows:
1) FIXED CAMERA ANGLE - They feel the camera is too close and you never get a good view of the action. eg.. when taking a shot outside the box, you can't see the goal so need to hit and hope. The same applies to team mates which you can't see, so you end up having to rely heavily on the on-screen radar. Whereas other PSP footy titles such as WTS & FIFA allow the customisation of angles, WE9 is fixed!
2) S-L-O-W PACE - Not sure if this is bad thing, as I quite like the pace of WE9, but the reviews went on to say that it was considerabley slower than it's big brother, and ultimatley feels rushed to meet the JAP market.
3) NO CUP MODES - Yep, nothing , nada, zilch! The big upset is obvoulsy the lack of any Master League mode, but in a market where both Sony's own "World Tour Soccer" and EA's "FIFA 06" are crammed with such features, this is surely a big loss!
4) NO COMMENTARY - Now this in some cases many will feel is not a bad loss, but when the audible atmosphere of the pitch is at a minimal hum, then things can tend to get a little dull.
5) POOR WI-FI MULTI-PLAYER - Another big blow! There is apparently weird "ghosting" on the players, and jarring pauses on corners on many occasions - sounds just like XBOX Live!!
Now most who read this will think "B*LL*X!", but we have to remember that this is Konami's first stab at the PSP version of the game we all love. What us fan's also know is that the WE series has always been the one with the "bugs" which are normally always ironed out for the conversion to PES for the european market. With this in mimnd, we can only HOPE & PRAY that as traditional as it has become, Seabass will refine the series for us, and sort out at least the lag, camera angles and add some cup tournaments. If he can squeeze even a "diluted" master league then I peronally will agreed to be his prison wife!
Finally with all this negtive talk out the way, the postives are the obvious....at the end of the day, it is WE/PES on the PSP and and as such still has the magical gameplay at its core and graphics /animation that are visually identical to the PS2 version!
ROLL ON NOVEMBER 2005!!!! HERE'S HOPING FOR A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE FROM SEABASS AND THE BOYS!!!!
