what is defense backline?

in team strategy option, u can set A,B,C level to
Backline Defense
it says the players will move further when defending is on the pitch

what does that mean??
A means all defending player will tend to move toward
the incoming ball or toward own goal post??

i don't get it?
is it an opposite setting of offside trap??

I think it means how far up your defense will generally defend on the pitch. High up meaning closer to the halfway line. So closer to the halfway line will increase the chance of the opposition being caught offside, whereas in a deep position will dcrease the likelehood of catching them offside but it will mean you always have men behind the ball.

So how far up pitch the defensive line is as a unit.
