OK, so I've played the 2008 demo for about 4 hours now and I've decided it's utter rubbish. Here's why, and go ahead and flame me all you want but this is the truth...

1/ The goal keepers are incredibly awful. I mean useless to the point where I'd rather start the game with 10 men! They pull off impossible saves and fumble or drop the easiest of catches. Had one ball trickle off Torres to the keeper who threw himself down to stop it, fumbled it to the waiting striker for a goal. I mean even I could have made a cuppa, had dinner, knocked one out, put a blindfold on and STILL have time to stop it myself! Crap. Utter crap.

2/ The game is too fast. Cross the ball from one side to the other and it might as well been shot from a cannon! As for free kicks, whenever the comp takes one the game camera actually can't keep up with it because it travels so fast! Who was testing this game, Stevie Wonder!!??

3/ Computer cheats more than ever. It's true; we all know the ball bounces and deflects kindly for the losing computer side, always has. But this is ridiculous. In one game I led 2-0 at half time and for the entire 2nd half (against Turkey) I think I touched the ball twice. EVERY challenge and tackle pinballed it to yet another Turkish player. Complete b*****ks!

What have Konami done? ISS Pro Evolution 2 on the PSone was, in my opinion, the greatest football game ever. Simply sublime. How can they mess it up so horribly?
Now, I appreciate and understand this is only a demo. Hell, if they tweak the game and make it better than this complete mess I will hold my hands up and apologise, no problem. But with just a month til release date I don't see it happening. Honestly, Pro Evo 6 (X360) wasn't great but it's so much better than this complete toss!

What are your thoughts?

did you play pro 6. the keepers in that could'nt catch the ball even if they had super glue on their gloves. this is an iprovement.
i got used to the game speed within 3 matches.
everything else is just about right in my opinion

well its been said that the release version will be slowed down. you could of easily posted your opinion in here http://www.pesgaming.com/showthread.php?t=52666
rather than making another thread.
thing about the catching is watch real football and keepers hardly ever do 1st time of asking anymore and although i cant stand your opinion you seem kinda funny
"mean even I could have made a cuppa, had dinner, knocked one out, put a blindfold on and STILL have time to stop it myself! Crap. Utter crap." lmao

What are your thoughts?

1) Yup....No arguments....The Keepers are totally unrealistic as usual...Stop the shots that should go be goals but miss the the ones that shouldnt

2) The Game is a bit to fast....but this may be as a result of your monitor being set above 60Hz.....(Konami tend to make minimal efforts for adapting game for PC owners)

3) LOLZ. The computer 'cheating' in 1 player mode is bearable. Just wit till your playing 2 player with friends or online and the AI starts favouring one team over the other. This was the foremost reason why my PES6 DVD got snapped and binned before X-Mas...It was either the game or my entire RIG......the game had to go.

4) You forgot to mention the shooting. It is fucked. Unless it is fixed for the full version then this will be the one and only PES game with abysmal frustrating and generally shit shooting physics. Cos of the shooting in the demo, I am not gonna buy PES2008 when it comes out...Instead, I will download from Newsgroups and if there is no improvement then Konami aint getting no £30 out of me.

I happen to think that PES3 was the most balanced of the entire series. as for this latest incarnation, going by the demo......a big dissapointment for all those with high next gen hopes, but putting to side all the same old stupid fuckign bugs and the same old frustrating gameplay limitations persisting into this latest tweaking of the same old PES engine; PES2008 is still a bloody good game and one which everyone will play for hundreds of hours. Not too many games you can say that about.

If the PC version is to fast...its because its a cross port...terrible...what you MUST DO is go to the installed directory. Open up settings and TURN OFF V-Synch and turn on frame skipping. The console plays on 60FPS...for the PC..you MUST have Frame skipping on..it will put it to 30FPS.. the game will feel a whole lot better.

The game speed is fine..I dont see anything wrong with it??

Just for the PC Owners..you must tweak the gameplay options. V-Synch made the game to fast...they should never have included it..or at least make a proper cross port.

Hope that solves your speedy issues :p

I'm talking about the Xbox 360 version, I haven't played it on PC.

id like a run button like fifa,i think you press lb and it tells the players to run on fifa, but then your through pass is always exactly the same.you can only seem to do after a 1 2 on pro, then you press rt i think and the other player bombs it.

too many times ive held up play well as i see a player making a run then when im about to pukk the trigger he stops for no reason, hes not gonna be offside he just stops and jogs back.

Yeah, that's a thing they did back in PES 5, I think, so that you wouldn't score so easily. Sucks, doesn't it? Many many times, your uber-intelligent team mate will stop just before you send the through ball, but the defender marking him won't, resulting in the defender having the advantage and winning the ball. It's one of the most frustrating changes they ever did to the game, and they never reverted it. It's just a stupid way of making the game harder, and I hate it. Does it show?

Hi there! I reckon PES3 was great fun. I once used FM stats(I think)and it was awesome,as the players seemed to be very much like their real life counterparts.Konami said that the formations were wrong when playing 3 at the back in this game and wanted to make the positioning better. So then along came PES4,supposedly better AI but the editing was poor, many people complained about this, stripy kits being the problem.
Now I believe Konami are paying for the game going online, and despite more editing features in 5 and in 6 it somehow ain't as good in areas I liked.
I used to enjoy playing a one-two high through ball on 1 2 and 3 and the Marseilles turn with Maradonna in a classic or ML match. The skills seemed alot more intuitive and realistic when perform in these titles.I think it wouldn't be wrong in saying that this year they get it right.
I personally would like to see 3rd kits aswell, or the option of mixing them up.Better crowd effects.More responsive to the action like when a player shoots for goal.More teams,or alot of blank fields for creating them.

It's that time of year again...

FIFA 08 is better than a game which hasn't come out and none of you have even played yet (the demo doesnt count because it's er...a demo!)

Carry on lads.

i dont have the demo as i'm not online but i just hope the game isn't to easy. I know a game tester who has the ps3 version and he has also said the game speed is poor compared to the ps2 version but i will make my own mind up when the game is released, this sounds very patronisiing but i think its just a case of getting used to the game.

I agree, mate.

From the demo, video's i've seen and now the news that the edit mode is "drastically reduced", it's got me thinking that i'm probably going to pass on buying this one, and spend my money on Assassin's Creed and Smackdown vs. RAW 2008, instead. Yeah, I think I will do that. Baring in mind people, that's my opinion. I'm sure a few other's feel completely different about it, but I just am going to restrain as much as I can on giving Konami my money when they have put a game out like this. Yeah I know I haven't played the full version, but the pace of the play really does annoy me and it doesn't look as good as last years game did (On the PS2). Don't get me wrong there's some good features (Like putting your face in the game, etc.), but it's the gameplay that counts. I know PES always delivers with it's gameplay, but why is it that fast!?

Yeah, sure other's feel different, so just remember, that's my opinion. I do not intend to change opinions of other's, as it's completely up to that individual if they wan't to spend their money on this version, or not.

the bad thing is even if the game is poor i will still buy it even though it goes against my morels. But i'm also confident i will love the game as long as it is not to easy.

as long as it is not to easy.

I just won an away game 7-2 with Argentina against Spain in Top Player...

At first I thought, "wow, that was too easy and with so little time invested in the game!", but then I remembered that this is the first time I play a PES demo before buying the full version, and that the first thing I do when I get a new PES is start a new ML in max difficulty with the original ML players. So I guess that's why I'm finding it easy, the demo only has top teams. Wait till I get Edingson and the bunch.

Oh, right, Edingson is retired. Sorry.
