IF Konami refuse to fix the online lag for PES2008 until next year's release i suggest that we should all start spreading the word to boycott PES2009 {just don't buy it!!!}. The only way to get these big corporations to listen to their consumers is to hit them where it will really hurt 'em and thats by affecting their sales.
If this software was was an office program and not a game it would have been rejected by the public until they fixed all that was wrong with it!
Those in favor of a boycott [or not], should express your opinions on this thread.............

As long as the gameplay stays the same, I'll be buying the game until the end of my years.

Oh yes, the gameplay staying more or less the same is one thing you can be assured off. That and even more horrendous gaping holes in the AI developing over the years....

Right now, there is no attractive modern alternative to PES2008, so I would rather just go without a football game. But FIFA is gaining ground fast and overall is actually a better game than PES this year, although still not good enough for me to spend much time playing. Point is, over the next couple of years, FIFA is likely to become greatly enhanced whilst PES is likely to stand still save for the odd tweak here and there which only serves to destroy its once legendary gameplay balance even further.

So when everyone is playing an immaculate true next-gen FIFA soccer sim, you are telling me that you will still be playing a ridiculoulsy arcadeish remix of a 10 year old soccer AI engine?

If that is so, then I wish you all the best with it.

It's not necessarily the online that is letting me down because I'm having enough fun on COD4, it's the game in general. I didn't play PES6's Master League because it started getting repetitive after 3 years, however I've started again on PES 2008, and it's clearly ridiculous. The amount of cheating the AI does is beyond comprehendable, it literally spoils the outlook of the games, and is more frustrating than any game I've encountered. At least with other games, a mission on COD4 for example maybe very difficult but at least you can get passed that. On PES, when something like the AI cheats, there's no getting past it because you know fine well it's going to be like this for a whole year.

I pre-ordered PES 2008, I certainly won't be pre-ordering 2009, and I'll probably rent it first, even if all the information leading up to it sounds impressive. Mainly because we all know the majority of information leading up to PES 2008 was a huge load of bullshit.

I'm waiting for an immense game to be released so I can trade it in, but there is none. Assassin's Creed was my choice but that's supposed to be a bit of a let down so...

The only way to get our point across to these fools is to boycott this MESS!!

boycotting it next year will still leave us without a football game for a year.

I think they'll sort it

This wont work. Until FIFA truly surpasses PES and though it's not impossible I doubt Seabass and Konami will ignore the many fans that aren't happy with the game.
Infact Seabass himself was not happy with what was released and this says to me that Konami had alot to do with what we got.

Boycott the next PES2009? I had no idea they'd released a first one yet...

I'm certain this boycott lark reappears every year, and its a ridiculous notion. How are 100 people on a shitty forum not buying the game going to make it any better? I say buy it so Seabass can afford to pay more than ten people to program the fucker.

I think people are overreacting a little, I agree there are definately problems online and there is sometimes a bit of jittering in the gameplay. I found this one takes a bit of getting used to just like all the rest going all the way back to the ps1, but once into it, its not that bad, certainly not as bad as everyone is saying.
Plus I'd rather play the first pes through a black and white tv than play any of that boring rubbish fifa has ever released.

Alas! What gave them away? Was it the fact that they want to boycott a game that won't be released for the next 11 MONTHS?

Why don't you wait and see? I'm no MatTheCat, but I've punched this game enough. I don't want to hit PES 2009 until I'm sure it deserves it.

Do you think konami care about you're ugly fucking faces? The only thing thats gonna happen by boycotting it is you won't have it. The new Pro evo is that sexy shit and has only been out a few weeks and you're already crying about the next game thats a whole year away and could poissibly be the best one yet. I'll just take it that you're on the rag this week and feeling a bit emotional. Bitch. Fuck outta here.

PES2008 is just a robery. They have shitted on all of us. It's a beta version of a probably grea game. Online is crap no discuss about it. But gameplay in general too. I mean, the general idea for this version is nice. Great new moves and other things, but... how the hell they have made such ugly models. They run like muppets. The AI is a joke, there are this usual moves that will make you be in front of the opposite keeper every single time you try.

I think time run out before they finished the new game for the new console generation and the released this shit. As I said in a previous post, it's like being cheated by your beloved girlfriend after years on nice sex.
