National Teams & General Advice

Hi, I'm relatively new to PES and am soon to play in a 2008 PS2 competition with a group of friends. I need to choose a national team to play with; unfortunately, I'm the last to join and it's first-come, first-served, so the following nations are already taken:

Argentina, Brazil, Cote d'Ivoire, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain & Sweden.

Now, this doesn't leave me with a lot of choice, but which nation would you recommend as the next best? At a glance, it looks like Australia, Denmark, Mexico, Republic of Ireland and Ukraine are worth checking out.

My next question is, given the status of whichever team I pick, do you even think that it will be possible to compete? The standard is high, but not expert. Do you think an expert player could bridge the gap? I've just acquired the official guide and plan on putting in a lot of practice! :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been playing with Mexico, I like them. Marquez is class, Guardado has pace, but I'm yet to see the best of Nery Castillo; I probably just haven't figured out his strengths. Plus, I'm not sure who should partner him, Bautista, Blanco, Borgetti, Kikin, or even Dos Santos.

It's not, unfortunately. I won't get away with that. :D I'll give Croatia a try though, they've definitely got some class players.

Thanks for your help, guys. I've decided to go with Croatia. I've been very impressed with them. In fact, they're better than some of the teams that have already been chosen.
