there are some really opinionated morons on here & quite a few gay jokes, but most of it is just childish banter.

Most just want decent banter who won't care who or what you are.

Racism is another matter, as i guess you know all too well by now. To save yourself the hassle i'd definately change the name & maybe take the humble apology route...
