Thanks alot mate. Once i had a fiddle about with the location of file cv_0.img i think i got it sorted. I patched both cv_0.img and rv_e.img but after rebuilding cv_1.img i couldn't manage to put it into the PES2008 folder itself.

Anyways, i put the game on and miraculously the patch had worked, i have only played one game so far so maybe cracks will start to appear because of this fault i don't know, but so far it looks brilliant. Magnificent patch, top notch. Love the Sky Sports banner and attention to detail on the kits are beautiful.

Thanks again

Good to hear things working out.

But what do you mean when you "couldn't put cv_1.img into into the PES2008 filder itself"?

And please get back to me if you have any problems surfacing due to the cv_1.img problem.

I mean that when i rebuilt Cv_1.img like all the other files, it didn't give me the option to rename it as cv_1_PATCHED.img like the other two files did.

I dont think it was a fault in what i did as i followed the pic tutorial precisely and it worked fine for the other two, it just seemed to miss a step for some reason with cv_1.img. I think i patched over the rebuilt cv_1.img so the file does have the patch, but its location on my PC is somewhat unclear.

In the PES2008 Folder, were i moved the patched files cv_0.img and rv_e.img, the cv_1.img is just the default file, it shows it was last modified sometime last year.

So like i said, maybe cracks will start to show in the patch at some point, but thus far it all looks good. The only thing i noticed is that when a PK is given in a match, the camera angle shows the opposing keeper at the other end of the pitch, who has no penalty to save (haha) maybe this was just an isolated incident i don't know, but even if its not, its a small price to pay for such an excellent patch.

Since the you can see the kits patched, then cv_1.img is correctly patched, and should be in the default PES2008 installation directory.

About te second file rebuilding proccess, it is not needed for cv_1.img for this patch due to the reason that there is enough reserved space for the patch files.

Since everything soiunds like its patched perfectly, there shouldn't be any cracks showing up.
And the PK camera angle is probaly another glitch, would like to see it myself.

Anyways, glad everythings working, and if there are any more bugs, please report here...and thanks for choosing this patch. ;)

Another glitch is that, the kits are clashing alot, for instance, when i was Liverpool going away to Middlesbrough, Boro were in there away kit and Liverpool were in there away kit. Which were both white. Just little things like that, and when Arsenal played Liverpool, both teams were in the home kit.

Yeh, thats one of the game's glitches. You can use kitserver to choose kits before Master League games, but there are frequent crashes and other various bugs with that application so it's up to you if you want to try it out.

If you wanna try it out:
http://www.gamingaccess.com

They have a large white logo saying KitServer on the site that takes you straight to the download links.

I took 3 or so attempts to finally install this patch. I did a clean PES2008 install and then tried to apply this patch. The reason was a weird one.

I'm using Vista. Whenever I was creating the 'rebuilt' or 'patched' files, I was saving them in the PES2008 folder within KONAMI. However, when I explored that folder they were never there. I was completely baffled as I knew I was definitely saving them in that folder. What left me completely bemused was that when I went into that folder via AFS the files showed up. Completely confused! Anyway, I created a new folder on my hard drive and saved the 'rebuilt' and 'patched' files in there. I then just cut and paste them over from there to the main folder and let it overwrite the originals which seemed to work a treat. Still not sure on what was happening?!?!

By the way, I do have the one glitch that has come up. None of the Championship players' names are there. They are all still named as the French players. I haven't really explored it yet but can I change these names in game or do I have to go via an OF editor?

Cheers again for the marvellous work Deckz!

Yeh, I heard from other members trying to install this that there are many obstacles for patching.

As for the French player names, you have either yet to copy the PES2008_EDIT01.bin file to your PES save directory, or it can be another one of Vista's problems.

If thats the case, try some of the solutions from these quotes:
Hi guys

Thanks for all of the messages on here, my first reply because i have got it working and i was having the same problem as a lot of you on here.

I have Windows Vista 64 bit and everything downloaded fine but ingame all the kits were Chelsea White or Chelsea Red.

I have been pulling my hair out trying to work out what it is and i installed the patch from the Konami web site and it worked, i couldnt believe it.

You have to run the Patch as Administrator or it wont let u run it for some strange reason but its great.

OK I see your going through what i've been through and i know how it feels.

Try this.

0) Back up your game saves.

1) Uninstall the game using the disk not the control panel. Insert the PES8 disk let it autorun then choose uninstall from the boot up menu.

2) After uninstall is complete - Go to the KONAMI folder under program files and delete it. In some cases the KONAMI folder may have been removed during the uninstall but double check anyway.

3) Click start button on task bar and go to run, then type regedit and click ok.

4) when regedit opens, Click on edit and then go to Find. A pop will apear type pro evolution soccer 2008 and click on - Find Next.

5) When the search has finnished (may take a while...) regedit will highlight your findings on the right side of the screen. Delete anything that is associated with Pro EVolution Soccer 2008.
WARNING! "make sure you DO NOT delete any files apart from those to do with PES2008"

6) Pressing the F3 button will take you to the next search to find anthing to do with PES2008, as the files are scattered around. Dont worry not much to delete.

7) Once your search is over regedit will alert you that there are no more files found for your search.

8) Now put your disk into the drive if not already in. Install the game but install it as administrator. You can only do this by browsing the disk from and not the autorun feature, as the autorun feature doesnt let you right click on the menu when it appears.

9) Go to the setup file when browsing disk and right click and choose "run as administrator"

10) Install the game and the official patch update. Again run that as administrator too.

11) Then install Deckz patch using AFS explorer, When you run AFS again run as administrator.

12) Apply the patch (refer to deckz patching instructions).

13) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\KONAMI\Pro Evolution Soccer 2008

14) Right click on the PES2008 file and go to properties at bottom.

15) click on the compatibilty tab and tick the "run this program in compatibilty mode for" and select "Windows XP (service pack 2)".

16) on the same pop up go down to "Privilege Level" and tick "Run as Administrator".

17) Now cross your fingers and wish for the best try running the game....

The above is what I did and it worked a wonder. :) I hope this works for you too.

Yo Deckz,

Cheers for the info, managed to get it sorted in a different way, which I believe will work for anyone else having Vista 64 issues.

Basically, when you rebuild and patch the files they go into a part of the img folder called 'compatibility files', for which there's a button on the header of the folder to access this area. So, these files get stored in this compatibility file area and dont actually effect the game.

All you have to do is cut them and paste them in the normal area, overwrite all the files that are already there, then follow your original instructions.

Hmm, have I made that sound clear enough? If not let me know and I'll do some pics or summat. It really could be the difference between playing a Master League and committing suicide, for us Vista 64-ers.

Any chance of doing this for the PS3? There's a lotta people out there who would kill for a Championship PS3 OF! Myself included

Have the missing Championship teams been added?

Ipswich Town
QPR
Norwich
Preston

If not, are there plans to add them? It would be awesome to see them added, even if they have to be added to as separate teams (assuming there is a 20 team limit per league)

Best Patch i have seen so far

Thanks for choosing this patch.

does this work with the proper pc version?

Yes, it does (Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, for the PC).

Sorry I don't have these teams, but you can try Rob's version which can be found here (you'll have to sign up):
http://forums.evo-web.co.uk/showthread.php?t=44638

I think he has included the teams you have mentioned, plus other updates aswell. I was helping out with his file until before the January transfers, and I remember he made a start on those at that time so he should have those done by now aswell.
But I think this is his final update since he said to me he's sick of PES, and has even unistalled the game.

If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask. ;)

Awesome, thanks for the link. Is his patch built off yours? Or did he start from scratch? Shame to hear he's discontinued it.

BTW, thanks a lot for your patch. If this had been the way PES2008 was released, it would be far superior to any other soccer game ever released :)
