Laudrup is a substitute, not a reserve, sorry. He's excellent, but Agbonlahor and Torres have been slightly better. Gervinho doesn't look much good, might give him a chance though (as I have looked through my ML history and I've given loads of players no chance when I should have)

And on the topic of PES's amazing keeping, I just faced Sunderland in the D1 Cup, I had Gordon in goal for me, and they had my ex-player, Ben Foster in goal...

I won 10-0.

Hahaha! Ridiculous.

D.A.S. Boot, Season 3, D1

My personal character (6'7" [as I am in real life] AMF/CMF/DMF/CB)

Walcott
Halil Altintop
Foti
Ben Sahar
Brian Laudrup (aka Landroam)
Obinna
Rowland
Larsson (trying to loan him out, as he's gonna take a while to turn into his monstrous self)

If the right people show up, I'll probably be releasing/selling one or two players next window. It'll be tough, too, as most of my players are very, very good (or will be), as well as being extremely versatile. I think I have too many pure CBs, though, and could stand another WF, as I'd like to tinker a little more.

Now playing a 3-5-2, and scoring an average of four a game so far, two or three conceded total.

1st team lineup:

--------------Yohann Pele----------------(GK)

--De Jong-----Luis Pereira-----M. Taylor---(RB, CB, LB)

----------Bos-----------------------------(DMF)

---------------------------Me-------------(DMF or CMF)

Machisio------Van der Vaart-------Pienaar-(RMF, AMF, LMF)

--------Obinna----------------------------(SS)

----------------------Brian Laudrup--------(CF)

I can;t believe I managed to get nani when he had like a 9 percent chance of being sold. Absolutely amazing I got him for the asking price.

I also got....I forget his name yong korean rookie GK. Hon Yon Kam or something. He is and is going to be absolutely unbeatable. And will last for a damn long time.

I also got M. Taylor, Marchisio, Roscina. Mainly these are subs to put in when the youth players I'm training need a rest. I'll sell them as soon as I get more of the players I'm looking for like machado, shaw, bos, kaiser etc.

I'm in my 5th Season after starting with the ML Default players and unfortunately it took me 3 Seasons to get out of Div. 2. I've been playing the PES 5 version for the past three years and had a hard time adjusting to the new COM offense. Since I've been promoted I came in 2nd and am currently in 1st. Here's my current squad:

Stekelenburg

Edited player (me)
Loco
Nyatanga
Criscinho

K.P. Boateng
Dessena
Halil Altintop
Kaka

Bendtner
Aubameyang

Subs:
Dawson
Bos
Onuaha
Huddlestone
Rochemback
Nedved (19 yrs. old)
Dos Santos
Ben Sahar
Giuseppe Rossi
Lazovic
Ukjani (GK)

Reserves:
Gervinho
Sosa
Birsa
Ridgewell
Kuzmanovic

I've always preferred picking up young players on a free and developing them alongside established veteran players

Hon Yon Nam (I think) is another of those bastards who I can never beat. Plays for WHam on mine (the team not the band).

Is the number to the side of a player when you try and get him an actual percentage? I thought it was til I saw players for 100, which theoretically (I am a maths student) means that if you offered negative money! for him he'd sign. It seems to me an approximation to how likely you are to get him, with as a maths person, pisses me off as it's blatantly incorrect.

I've just bought a PS3 so this is my new PES2008 squad compared to my PS2 one.

ML started with the ML team of **** players.

Just started my third season.

GK - Van der sar

CB - Kompany
CB - Palmieri
CB - Fernandez
CB - I Chon Yon

CMF - Sousa

AMF - Ben Sahar
AMF - Camacho

CF - Matic
CF - Adu
CF - Orellano

Subs:

No GK yet lol

CB - Jackson
CB - Maldini
CB - M.B Sall
SB - Giersen

CMF - Van Den Berg
SMF - Traore
AMF - Gambino
AMF - Ettori

CF - Park Jyun Hi
CF - Andy Cole
CF - Gutierrez

I play a 4-1-2-3

Flat back four all CB along the 18 yard box withing the corners of the 18 yard box.

Sousa is basically in a DMF position but playing as CMF

Sousa and the back four have HIGH defence

Sousa and the back four have attacking arrows pointing back to defence just to make sure they don't go up field attacking.

Sousa has an attacking arrow up into attacking midfield too.

Ben Sahar and Camacho play on the side of midfield but have their position as AMF they have low defence arrows and both have attacking arrows pointing down the flanks and cutting in diagonal.

Adu and Orellano play on either side of Matic who is central to my 3 piece attack, Adu and Orellano are positioned near enough at the corners of the 6 yard box with Matic on the edge of the 18 yard box

All three have low defence and have attacking arrows to go up front.

My defence line and offside trap are both set at C.

Basically I defend very very deep and play on the counter attack Matic can hold up the ball for Adu and Orellano to make runs or either my AMF can play through balls to Adu or Orellano and Matic usually arrive late in the box to pounce on loose balls.

This formation worked well with PES 2008 on PS2 with me winning the treble 11 seasons in a row.

Quite annoyed that in the first season of the new rookies coming in i wasn't good enough to get Kaiser he buggered off somewhere else. DAMN!

How does Matic turn out (ie, where does his curve peak)? I'm always tempted to pick him up, because I like tall players, but he's SO slow starting off, I never go for him.

Hey mate, not too sure i bought him like 2nd season negotiations, Great at winning the ball back and already if you play with in between two fats forwards he's there late to hit them in the back of the net.

I'm playing this like a beast so by monday i should be another season or two advanced i'll give an update.

Well I don't think it's an actual percentage but it seemed the most approapiate word. but basically if they're below 30 or 20 II have a hard as hell time trying to get them. Thing is I have actually had more luck just offering asking price then crazy amounts of money. I remember when I was trying to buy a player and offering 60,000 points and 5000 salary and they would not sign, I offered asking price and I got em.

That would be great! In the mean time, if you get a minute, would you mind taking a look under "Team Information" > "Development Sheet" > "Matic", then reporting back what number his curve reaches naturally? Thanks man! 8^)

I've always wondered if offering a huge sum affects the CPU team's valuation of the player, making them less willing to sell if they feel the offers must mean the player is going to become a star.

I'm a few matches into the second season and at the hardest level, though i prefer to let the COM play. I enjoy watching my signings do their thing, rather than me dictating the tempo manually.

You feel like you're the manager of the squad and have to make the right signings, introduce the right tactics, etc.

The money issue is a right pain in the arse. I chose the option that let's you make your own team, but that's just silly because they only give you 1000 points to get players. After much consideration, i went for Larsson and Veron, who are both old, cheap, but brilliant.

I forgot to drop a few of the cunts in the default sqaud, which cost me a lot in wages, but oh well.

Now, after not winning shit, due to the uselessness of most of the squad, i was left with very little cash to sign good players, so i had to make some tough decisions.

I sold Veron for 6000ish to Deportivo. I was reluctant to do so but i had to in order to boost other areas.

I signed Nicolita, Moutinho, Modric, Fucile, Nelson, Da Costa, Kompany and Castillo, and i only left Ivarov (Legend), Zamenhof, Valeny, Baumann, El Moubarki, Ceciu (or the other cunt, i can't remeber right now), Van Der Berg, Dodo, Minanda (i hate him), Burchet, Macco, Huylens, Castolo and Stein - all useless cunts.

Anyway, this is what my best formation loooks like at the moment:

------------------Ivarov----------------------
Fucile-----Da Costa----Baumann--------Nelson
----------------Kompany----------------------
---------Moutinho-----------------------------
--------------------------Modric--------------
Nicolita----------------------------------------
------------------Larsson--------------Castillo-

The defense is pretty good. Fucile does the job, Nelson is great and Da Costa is rock solid. All young and stats rising steadily.

Kompany is a machine.

Modric and Moutinho are little but hard workers. They make a formidable midfield with the big guy behind them.

Nicolita was a great signing, he is fast and a rather good dribbler.

Castillo i'm not too happy with, but he is the top scorer in the league so far. He'll do for now.

Larsson = Legend.

My next targets are a CB, a CF (Benzema, if possible) and a GK. If i have enough left, i'lll buy a LB or a proper DMF.

Nice to see someone using Kompany as DMF. Hes' far too good to be wasted in the back 4!
It's more a matter of need than anything else though.

I do like him in front of the CBs because he is very good in the air and helps cover the gaps that that German cunt leaves, but he will end up going back there as soon as i get a proper DMF, hopefully Yaya or Essien.

Although i will definitely be using him in the middle in a few games, if i have to rest someone or i need a big man to win aerial challenges.

He's already scored a few as well. He's good in corner kicks and is not a bad shot from outside the box.

The only thing that i have truly enjoyed from PES2008 so far, are the graphics and the much improved AI. You can actually sit back and enjoy the matches now.

Usul don't you buy rookie i think they're brilliant, I bought Sousa he's CMF, DMF He's 177cm i think but in the air he wins most balls he's 19 now, can't wait to see him develop, i've been tempted to go for Mavuba of Villareal, as i've played against them and he seems to play solid.

Desperate for a natural Left Midfielder though

He peaks at 26 at around 87 I doubt i'll have him that long though but if he's a main player the stats are always more than they show i can see him being around a 91 average.

Well, i have just bought Gomes, Bruno Alves, Miguel Veloso and Mr. Van Der Vaart. I sold Van Der Berg, i loaned Macco and i released Baumann, the other german CB and Minanda.

I bought Veloso because i needed a cheap midfielder and i got Alves for the same reason. They're both good enough and are a huge improvement on the wastes of space i had.

Gomes has 95 response and is quite young. Enough said about him. :smug:

Van Der Vaart is the shiznit.

This is how my team looks now, a quarter of the way through the second half of the season:

------------------Gomes---------------------
Fucile-----Da Costa----Bruno Alves-----Nelson
---------------------------------------------
-----------------Kompany--------------------
---------Moutinho-----------VdV-------------
Nicolita------------Larsson------------Castillo

Subs: Modric, Veloso, Valeny, Moubarki, Ivarov, Burchet, Castolo, Huylens.

Larsson is the league's top scorer and Modric the assist leader.

I wonder how he compares to Zigic, Koller, and Ribeiro (Braz Newcomer, height 199, bit faster than the others here).

My starting line-up at the mo, 2012 season, (although quite rarely due to fatigue / form!) is a 4-3-3 with wing forwards and side-backs:

------------------Akinfeev------------------
--------------------------------------------
Gambino----Fernandez----Kompany----Walton
--------------------------------------------
-------------Micah Richards-----------------
--------------------------------------------
------------------------Marchisio-----------
--------------------------------------------
-----------------Higuain--------------------
--------------------------------------------
---Murray----------------------Quaresma---
--------------------------------------------
------------------Orellano------------------

Subs:

Given
Wolf
Metzelder
Matuidi
Kuzmanovic
Espinosa
Fujimoto
Yamada
Lennon
Martins
Owen
Khumalo

Although if I'm going in for an important match and aren't too bothered about development i'd start with Metzelder, Fujimoto, Lennon and Owen on the pitch.
