I really hope konami works out the AI and the game speed problems found in 2008. Fifa 2009 so far looks like fifa 08 (graphic) but you'll have to wait to fully decide.

Okay guys I know I'm wondering into enemy territory but i just couldn't help but to think "can Fifa out do Pes AGAIN?"

Fifa 09

Well unfortunately, this might be the case for 2009 because I've seen video clips of FIFA09's gameplay, and it looks like a really decent game this time around. David Rutter (the producer of FIFA09) even said that they have added New Player Attributes along with the noticeable improved responsiveness.

Also, players in FIFA no longer look like they are skating through the pitch -this- coupled with the improved responsiveness makes it a potential alternative to PES6.

I hope seabass haves something up his sleeve because FIFA09 looks like bad news for Konami.

Idk what this thread meant by AGAIN?.. people give FIFA 08 props for ADDING NEW FEATURES and b/c EA says they are TRYING HARD. well i mean i can promise you that no person that plays FIFA08 and PES 2008 ten matches in each game will say that PES 2008 had much more exciting gameplay and moments. HOWEVER.....FIFA 09 looks like it can actually be fun in its own way IF THINGS DO GET BETTER! PES 2009 for me is a no brainer.....seabass himself said he saw the criticism and he will have addressed most of the issues ( gameplay wise and modes )

Im not exactly sure after reading the article about the how the gameplay in PC will be, but FIFA 09 PC sounds like PES 08 for Wii, where you select the players and move them around not some FPS game like they said it is, but I dunno, the demo still isnt out yet though. If it is then, is it something that FIFA franchise trying to do? Taking PES features?

FIFA 08 was awful in my honest opinion. I did like PES20008, though the lag and stumbles online are cringe worthy.

Both aren't fantastic though, so I hope one of them is truly motivated now to create something worth playing for months.

Although pes2008 was a bit of a disaster. Fifa is a complete Disaster. Fifa is all about tricks and impossible goals. When you go on a FIFa forum they only talk about how they want the next fifa has to have easy tricks., easier way to score bicycle kicks etc. Fifa has always been a game for fantasy soccer players. The last couple of years they have made good improvements, but still the goals are unrealistic. For example when you are at a 90 degrees angle of a post you can still score. In real life this maybe happens 1 in 10000 times but in FIFA you score all the time.

I'm with Barry. Hoping we get one game worth shouting about, the gameplay in Euro 2008 was way better than FIFA 08, and a couple more improvements EA could be onto a total winner with FIFA 09.

But it's all about opinions, I love PES 2008 and apparently i'm one of a few who do love it.

I'll certainly give both games a bash and see what happens.

Okay some how Pes was good, but it has some AI problems, but in my opinion I played Fifa and i was hooked on the Online Play, something which Pes needs to work on. And I mean the commenting and Graphics (on 360 and PS3) blew Pes away. And what i've seen from the new Pes it has a chance to blow Fifa away Graphically, but commenting needs some serious work. I mean Pes have two of the best commentators in the world and it sounds like complete nonsense in the game. So in my opinion Fifa won the round, but i truly hope Pes can change.

No wonder Pes got a 6.0 and 7.0 out of 10.0
And Fifa got a 8.5 out of 10.0

Fifa > Pes after last year's outing's and I expect Fifa 09 to be better than Pes2009 this year.

People should stop this nonsense that FIFA is better. Fifa has had some major improvements over the years. But pes2008 is still better. if you like fantasy goals (easy goals) running 100 mtrs doing simple tricks not losing the ball and if you want licensed clubs and names then buy FIFA, but don't come crying if you are not getting the satisfaction. If you want to jerk of on real names and real clubs and Rooney's realistic face then go ahead.

What i have noticed the couple of day' is that a lot of people moan because the gameplay has changed in pes2008. But doesn't the game play change every year? in the first pes you could shoot from far and still strike a goal. in pes 6 it's almost impossible. Some like this some don't. i love to shoot from far. So for me pes 6 was a little bit disappointing. But what if pes2009 will be balanced. So only players with a good kick can score from far. I think we all would be satisfied (just a example out of hundred).

Fifa09 got real names real clubs nice graphics. And to be honest i don't give a @#%@#. As long shooting and the goalies are harder to beat then it's another pes and maybe i'll buy a ps3 again.

i don't think FIFA won last year and i don't think they will win this year because they are too far behind ( gameplay wise and that's what counts for me) and that's saying something because PES 08 with all it's flaws this year still plays better football then FIFA08 .( NOW THAT'S A BIG GAB WHEN UR BEST YEAR STILL CAN'T COMPARE TO OUR WORST YEAR).
it makes me think of when KOBE first came to the NBA alot of people said he would be the next JORDAN or even better. well i am still waiting to see that and that's FIFA they have all the hype and promise and still always come up short.

That part alone clearly shows you haven't played FIFA 08, and if you did, you did on Amateur. That description is better suited for PES 2008 and its ridiculous scorelines (except for the tricks part. In PES 2008 you just have to run 100 mtrs doing nothing). We're talking next-gen here, of course.

In my opinion, FIFA 09 will be the better game overall, but I'm pretty confident PES 2009 will get back on track gameplay-wise, and if that's the case then it'll play better for sure, and I'm getting it.

Today, the best footy sim is surely PES 6. And I say this after having tried PES 2008 for 4 months, having played FIFA 08 exclusively for 4 months, EURO 2008 for a couple of weeks, then going back to PES 5 for a while and finally returning to PES 6.

FIFA 08 is very deep and more realistic than PES 2008, but animations need refining, and the game kinda falters when it comes, for example, to a quick counter attack. It lacks some punch in quick plays. EURO 2008 was a bit better, so maybe FIFA 09 will correct these issues. If so, I'm getting it for sure.

Hopefully, by November I'll be playing two great football games.

And about the poll, yes, I think fifa *can* outdo PES, only if PES 2009 is as suckass as PES 2008. Which I don't think will be the case.

I have both games. So don't even think I haven't played fifa(i have some nerdy friends who love scoring fantasy goals without trying the effort, i let them have some fun in their lives). The evidence is overwhelming. Just go on youtube allot of fantasy goals there. They should change that. Also if you ignore the fact that with FIFa doing tricks will get you a goal easily then you are lying.

You have Fifa 09 and PES2009 already.:shocking:

I think its too early to be doing a poll. But, there's no doubt about it that FIFA is getting there. I mean how many of you's back in the days of "PES3" remember saying

"PES is the best football game" "FIFA will never be as good as PES". Now we have some members saying, who said something similar to the above,
"FIFA is a really good now" "I play FIFA more"

Where PES had its prime, i think FIFA are now doing that now and, to be honest, FIFA will out sell PES this year.

But thats based on the screenshots and previews i've seen.
