i am a pes fan since playstation 1.
this year for the first time i bought also fifa 08.
i really enjoyed it.i think also to buy fifa 09 but there is a problem whith EA,
they insist to make the movement by the analog stick.
i am sure guys that you agree with me that it doesn't work.
football you play only with directional buttons.

and a second problem is that you don't "feel" the power of the shot in the game.you
think that the shot was weak but when you see the replay it seems more powerfull.

a third problem with EA is with the aimming, you have an easy shot from outside the
box but 70% of the time it goes out......really far away.

i think that konami still leads (but EA are very, very close)

one of the things that have to be fixed by konami beside the graphics (pes 09 pictures looks similar to pes 08) is the fatigue of the players,it is not that much real
that you have to rest al the squad after one game.in real life for example ronaldo can
play every game.not in pes.

tell me guys what you think about all the issues brought here pes and fifa!!!

I agree with you on every point. I hate analogue control for fotball. It doesn't give you enough accuracy.
About Pes fatigue you mentioned. That was my major complaint of the game. Other than that they need to fix the game speed and the game would be awesome.

i agree on half of that. analog is fine but the control pad should be an option and its not fifas fault you cant score goals. there is no problem with the shot power.

looking at the videos on YouTube etc. FIFA09 will be a contender this year, PES09 needs to be pretty f-in awesome this year if it is to remain the best footy game.

http://www.youtube.com/v/Vke2QmIOI7s&hl=en&fs=1 check this interview from David Rutter EA

Come on Konami, you can do it!

i don't think FIFA's gameplay will be that different. if that was the case they would been making the game from scratch. What FIFA and PES have been doing all these year is just tweak the game. So to change the gameplay totally you have to begin from 0. Since PES's gameplay was allready good from the beginning Konami has a advantage. I don't think better graphics, weight of the body etc will make FIFA superior to PES unless FIFA starts form scratch

The only seriosly good thing Konami has this year is a CL game but its not even going to be in Pes 2009 so whats the point. Hopefully they will atleast have the CL licensed teams in PES 2009 but i dnt really care if they dont have the actual tournament so long as we have the teams

I think the Analog is much better than the Classic Directional control -however- what I don't like about FIFA is that all the Dribbling Moves have to be performed via the Right Analog Stick (R3 button).

There's just not enough time to push the L2 button and then work it out with the R3 button, the simplest of Dribbling Tricks become complicated and ineffective -and- predictable (it feels and plays like an RPG Football game).

Dribbling should be something simple and intuitive. I prefer the Old Dribbling Controls of PES6, plain and simple -but- effective.

The issues of PES08?? Basically, PES08 is an Issue, everything is full of flaws. For starters, it's time to see a re-invented and improved System of Stats and Special Abilities. And Konami needs to go beyond PES4, after 5 years without noticeable improvements, after releasing the same game year after year -it- is time for Konami to take it further than PES4. A version of PES6 with good graphics is NOT good enough.

And apart from that, The Defensive Play in PES08 (and PES6) needs plenty of improvements; better Defensive Play, more Defensive Controls, and more Defensive Skills (or Stats). In short, the Defensive Play in PES lacks depth and substance.

Licenses are just details.. the gameplay was the thing that established PES in the first place. Bottom Line is that we can give thousands of ideas and comments in hope that Konami will read them and consider them. But apart from that, we can only wait and see.

personally i think that fifa will never be as good as pro just the feel of pro is better more free to do what you want even tho fifa has impressivly improved and will always have good graphics(but rubbish player likeness) it still falls by the wasteside

however looking at documents and the podcasts EA have made their improvments for 09 are good with attributes properly taken in to consideration for realism... also weather sounds good with storm/snow/ice introduced to 09...they (EA) also said that collisions will be a factor saying that tackes will always have diff results and random slips and bangs... they also said the free roam arena will be more custom and different..... they game play will be alot like Euro 2008 but with few tweaks and stats...but can EA keep upto their promise---Doubt it!

i reckon that konami will have alot of work to do if they are to keep above EA on the above bases... with some major tweeks needed....i enjoy every pes but i have got bored of recent versions, there good but not quite there so i will look foward to seeing what the two will offer!

^You're right. The last one had some really bad defending and it was boring that you can dribble your way through with a fast player even if he doesn't know how to dribble. Still a great game though.

You know, for all the enjoyable and addictive gameplay of PES6 (and PES5). I've reached a point where I'm just bored by PES6, and I don't even bother playing PES08.. PES08 is possibly one of the most boring games I have ever played.

And, this is what happens after 5 years of the same game, Konami haves basically released the same game 4 times for the PS2, same game year after year -and- PES08 for PS3 doesn't even deserves a mention.

So Konami still is stuck in PES4 -something- that really disappoints me as a long time PES Fan. It may sound too demanding of my part, but I just won't be satisfied with a version of PES6 with good graphics. That is just NOT good enough.

PES6 is pretty much a tweaked version of PES4 -and- PES4 was released in 2004!! That's almost 5 years now. I think it's unacceptable that after 5 years we are still playing a game that plays and feels almost exactly as PES4. I think it would be unacceptable if Konami keeps this going.

Konami cannot expect to satisfy fans by simply releasing a version of PES6 with good graphics (not even Next Gen Graphics) -for- the PS3. I'm bored of that game, I've been playing it for 5 years now.. I want a better game.

On the other hand, at least EA Sport's FIFA has drastically changed over the last 5 years; FIFA2004, FIFA2005, FIFA2006, FIFA2007, all have noticeable differences and clear improvements.

The sole reason I still prefer Konami -is- because PES5 and PES6 are better than any FIFA version (including EURO 2008). But still, I'm aware of the FACT that Konami has been releasing the same game for 5 years now -and- I'm also aware of the fact that EA Sports is putting more effort into their latest games, we've seen clear improvements.

Bottom Line is that if Seabass and the rest of the Konami Team keep living back in 2004 -FIFA- could be the game to have in the near future.

yes i agree altho i wouldnt say pes 6 was like pes 4/5 i used to love number 5 where i would get real satisfaction from making a good pass wich may or may not lead to a goal, the occasional long shot from gerrard if i could'nt break down the defence...

however i agree that EA have made the most noticable improvments on the gameplay factor because their graphics have always been quite good..

i just hope that konami pulls their finger out and makes drastic changes to the gameplay make it feel alot more life like/realistic.... I still prefere pes but for how long i dont really know!

^The last line is the truth. If Konami doesn't do anything about the gameplay Fifa could easily win.
