So has anybody treated themselves to this game?

I bought it myself yesterday, my brother had come to visit for the weekend and we caned this for about 4 hours, multiplayer-wise it was top notch, really enjoyed it.

Some events I just couldn't get to grips with but overall I really enjoyed it.

I have this game. It is very hard, and some of the events are awful to play, such as; the diving events.

Graphics are pretty good though, and it does include a lot of button-mashing. But, I do enjoy playing and is very good in multiplayer.

The only downside is when you fail a day in the olympics qualification, you automatically have game-over.

The diving is great. Clearly you just suck ;)

As for the Olympics thing, that is part of the challenge. It would suck if you could go through it all failing every event along the way. You can load the game and start at the bit you failed to try again.

Haha, I admit, I do. I can't get the hang off it. Any tips?

But, even if you qualify for something, like the high jump, which I broke the world record for in qualifying, I can't continue to compete in the finals.

I've broken a few World Records, namely for the Discus and Shot.

I've got a decent technique down for the Javelin too but struggling to land a World Record for that.

100m I can win but I can never seem to get a good start, and I'm fucked if I can beat 10 seconds. I've had several 10.02's though.

The Rapid Pistol shooting i find criminally easy though.

Judo is bent.

I have it on PS3 and haven't really given it a proper go since buying Battlefield pretty soon after. From what I played though, the judo and kayaking events are both impossible and the archery and pistol events are very easy.

Tell me it's all about the start!?

Thing is mate, I wonder if I could do the toggle any faster but when doing Long Jump etc the bar is full constantly so I know I'm getting full power.

If I nail the start I reckon I can beat 10 seconds...ok I HOPE I can :erm:

It certainly is all about the start. I managed to time it perfectly and just went mental with the button mashing, putting me quite far ahead after about 20 metres and resulting in a 9.77secs finish. I managed a 9.82 as well but apart from that it was mostly 10.05.

I actually found the 1500m very easy too. I found myself about 10m ahead of everybody else early on and carried it on from there. Strange.

Fuck the Judo though.

I think it'd help if I knew how Judo worked to be honest. I doubt I'll bother trying to work it out just for the sake of this game though as I've had enough of being ipponned. I also found the 1500m surprisingly easy. I was at the front of the pack by about 20-30m after about 200m of running and expected to be well tired by the end of it but just kept going at the front and if I saw a fella pop up behind me I'd sprint forward a bit more til he was out of sight. Just did that the whole way round. :|

Love this game. Got it the week it came out but i've only just started playing it properly again this week. Smashed quite a few records so far aswell. If anyone wants few games on it sometime with us then my gamertag for the 360 is BlueScouse4

I love learning techniques for different events. I've been shite at the javelin since i got it but have managed to get my technique nailed on now and rarely throw under 95m.

These are my world records on the game....

100m: 9.72
200m: 19.32
400m: 42.97
110m Hurdles: 12.72
High Jump: 2.46m
Triple Jump: 18.30m
Pole Vault: 6.15m (anyone else find 6.20 impossible to get?!)
Shot Putt: 23.31m
Discus: 78.04m (Well happy with this one...smashed it by 4 metres)
Hammer Throw: 88.74m
Javelin: 98.70m
Cycling - Team Pursuit: 3:55:57
Weightlifting: 480

Bought the game yesterday, played on it a lot because I had mates over.

There are some HUGE ISSUES with the game though.

The controls were invented by probably the thickest people in the world.
Example, javelin, where you move the right stick from left to right, before pulling back the left stick and releasing to fire. But the only way really to get a good boost with the run up is to use a full palm to move the right stick - this 9/10 results in knocking the left stick and arsing up your throw.

And then there are at least 10 games that I can honestly say are the worst I've seen on any console: Judo, Kayaking, Skeet, Weightlifting, Hurdles, Long Jump and 200m are all abominable... and ruin the game if you want to complete it.

But if you stick to multiplayer and only go on the other games, it's decent.

its very fun for a while going online is amazing but.. u may get bored of it after a while

my best events:
50m Swimming Freestyle (Broke The Record That Much Ive Lost Count)
Discus Throw (World Record Broken Twice)

Long Jump (Broke the WR loads of times and do the clap-on to get warmed up for a big jump)
High Jump (Never Broken The Final Height)

worst events:
Javelin throw (worst event on the game)
weightlifting (good event im just shit at it)
Cycling Team pursuit (if im lapped the xbox goes off !).

Love the game but some events are ridiculously hard. Judo for example.

My best events are weightlifting, 10m pistol and archery
