I couldn't agree more. There is nothing more frustrating than your CB's becoming confused and both running to one area leaving a massive space behind them. Along with the fact everytime the AI gets the ball, they're capable of producing 25+ sidesteps and tricks, combined with a 30 yard dribble. It's just damn impossible, especially from shit players.

Yeah, those are the funny -but- frustrating and annoying flaws of PES6 (and PES08). Maybe Diego Maradona or Ronaldo in his prime could perform those types of ridiculous dribbling runs from time to time. But a completely different thing is when you see Peter Crouch dribbling through your complete defence. The game definitely needs more realistic stats because it is impossible to dribble just about everyone whenever you want.. and it's even more unrealistic when you see any average player doing it.

And the Center Backs have very poor positioning -so- you basically have to make up for it by running excessively. I'd like to see the usual flaws at least slightly improved in PES09.

Even the goalkeeper does it.
For instance when he receives the ball and you haven't reached him yet, he'll use the R2 dribble/slow dribble and beat maybe 1 or 2 of your players before passing. :(

Excessively. I've scored some goals because of that. While he is busy trying to dribble I do a slide tackle and score.

^I thought you were saying that the keeper dribbles with some ronaldinho moves. That doesn't happen to me but yes the keeper tries to get hold of the ball and sometimes tries to dribble a few.

the keepers should be given more stats instead of just gk skill.. what does that stat actually mean?? crouch shouldnt be able to shoot from 30 yards and push your keeper back into his own goal!!!wtf!

the keepers are the most unresponsive players in the game. None of them are any different, when they save the ball you cannot start a counter attack.
They dive, then slowly drag their ass of the ground and lethargically get up.
and when you get the keeper to throw the ball out, does it go to where you want it to?

i have a strange fixation with netting and i'm disapointed that the same nets are in use again. The screenshots havent really told me much apart from the fact the fake stadiums are still in the game. Looking forward to some hands on previews though.

They should copy the nets from Football Kingdom. The most realistic net system I've ever seen!

^Yeah pes 5 AI was the best. Defending was awesome but the dribbling was not that good.

yer i agree i thought it was ok as in it never really bothered me i did try trick and was quite successful but if i played it now then i could probs notice some changes lol...

but i think the current graphics are sweet with player likeness is unreal, the clear liscensed kits are good maybe some lighting could be changed and the boots I feel are i tiny bit weak.... but the gameplay is the major factor

well doyin, i didn't say anything about FIFA, which represents the ultimate crap for me, but for PES which i still play (but PES6) and will keep doing so, the game has a great potential and a great mechanism that unfortunately KONAMI put behind and developed a new dull one instead in PES2008. i truly hope that the new version is not crap but it just not looking to be different from the last year and i think the veteran PES players knows what i'm talking about, just play PES3 and look how great are the players positioning and moving around the field.
also when i express my thoughts about the game it doesn't mean that i will be stupid if they were incorrect, its opinions and predictions AND a hope that you don't buy the game if it was bad like the previous version (unless you like it of course).

okay sorry ahmed, u are right that you did not say anything about FIFA, but it was just how bad you thought the game will be and the way you just predicted the AI. I used FIFA(pro evo's main opposition), just to make a point that pro evo 2009 wont be all that bad and yes, my first play of pes2008 showed that the players where in a way programmed, i understand your concern about that and i can assure you that it will always be like that because there is this debate going on about next gen games getting easier and what i found out by talking to my friends is that there are many amateur gamers who are just coming in and game companies are making games easier for these amateurs, EA games has recognised that even before Konami did and that is why FIFA is naturally easy but Konami just realised that and they started programming their players too, so that means professional gamers like you wont always get what you always wanted but if i know Konami well, they wont make it all that nonsense again seeing that people complain about the AI and with the new champions league licence and good graphics, you have to at least predict something good.:)

Amateur players will remain Amateur if they keep playing easy and boring games. What is the challenge?? What's the point of such games? Waste of money and TIME.

And again, considering that probably most PES Fans are not amateur players.. well, it would be ridiculous if Konami turn against their own fans. FIFA is the game for amateurs -and- PES was the game for more serious Football fans.

If Konami keeps making the game easier and simpler -then- they will truly lose the race against FIFA. And yet again, Amateur and Casual gamers bought FIFA, NOT because it was arcadish, simple, easy, and boring -BUT- because FIFA haves all the Licenses (and always had better graphics) -and- that is what attracts casual gamers the most.

I'm certain that if it was the other way around -that- is if Konami had all the Licenses and the better graphics -then- no one would've bought FIFA in the 1st place.

You are totally right and i cant compete with what you just said but Konami dont know that all their players are professionals and some amateurs who just came into gaming dont want to be hardcore, some just want to enjoy the game.

That's why games like nintendo WII are outselling other consoles cause everything is just easy and not too complicated and i know people like the WII sport and exercise cause it helps their body and brain but it is also easy for amateurs like our parents or so and thats what is selling now, Konami sees that and Konami decides to follow the other game companies who see it.I really hope that they dont do all this for the sake of professionals like you and me

Konami can always release an easy Sports game for the Wii -however- they shouldn't destroy the PES series.. the PES series makes a lot of money, and it haves millions of fans.

I don't see Konami turning against the people who bought PES in the first place. In this respect, PES09 is crucial -because- if Konami releases another arcadish, easy, and boring game similar to PES08 -then- they will loose a good part of their fanbase.

We'll see.. But it would be a surprise for me if Konami is actually trying to make the game easier in order to please casual gamers -because- if they do so, then I expect casual gamers will buy the game -BUT- hardcore fans would loose credibility in the Series and Konami altogether.

After the disappointment that PES08 was.. that would certainly be the worst scenario for Konami.

Well I know that Konami can release their own WII sport game if they want to, but that is not the aim of making games easy. Example the Grand Theft Auto genre, if you have played 'Grand theft auto 4' you will notice that it is more easier than 'Grand theft auto: vice city', even the cops are easier to escape from and the same goes for San andreas, I couldnt finish Vice city but i finished San andreas twice and it was really easy

All the above is just to make a point that games are getting easier but their concept is not changing and Konami can also make the game to be programmed but not perform as bad as you say, cause i dont have pes2008 so i do not know how bad it is, i just got a brief view from playing the demo. Well really we can just wait and hope.

I want to buy pes2008, can you tell me about the master league and individual player graphics, is it good? i know the gameplay isnt so good but I luv pes.

It isn't worth it.. the graphics are acceptable, and some faces are really impressive -but- the game is just worthless, it's boring to play -and- by now it isn't worth buying it.

You'll be better off if you wait until October for PES09.
