I'm glad it's not just me... whenever im winning you can guarantee the comp will score. usually a bloody corner, they just push your players and get themselves a free header. not that that matters no keeper could save some of these headers!!!!!

with regards to those 13 HI RES all the trimmings pictures, they cut scene pictures that look exactly them same as any pic from the 08 game, theres one in game picture (brazil Vs Arg) that looks no different to PES8 and doesnt even look that real.

Certainly no improvements at this stage.

Looking at the picture it looks like the AI will still be as bad, if you look at the first picture in this thread, in game action, you will notice the 2 center midfielders both 1 meter apart running away from the man with the ball, dont look good to me!

The Boss
XBox 360 PES 2008 > PS3 PES 2008

That is just a fact that I doubt anyone who has played both can argue with. The game is the same, just the PS3 suffers terrible lag issues especially when played on a SD TV.

well the patches certainly cleared up the offline lag on my sd tv, but I have HD now anyway.

Can't deny that the 360 version is better.

Brazil vs Argentina, just look at the old screenshots of PES08 -there's- clearly an improvement. Maybe you will not notice it right away, but just place Ronaldinho's shot PES08 -aside- Ronaldinho's shot in PES09.. There's a clear improvement.

However, the thing that doesn't looks good in my opinion is that the Midfielders (and probably the Defenders) seem to be as retarded as in PES08.. judging by the pics, a few midfielders are poorly positioned.

tbh the AI doesnst look horific as many make it out to be. you could easy find the same niggling issues with pes 6 on ps2 (best ever) if u dig deep enough. for all you know the crappy marking in this shot of the midfield may barely ever happen and might not occur too often.

also the defence looks to be holding its own and i dont know how i can tell from this still of gameplay but i just get the feeling it seems slower and more tactical.

And for those who think the graphics arnt an improvement you are blind. just look at the knees of the players in both, the wrinkled shirts, top quality lighting effects and the pitch seems to have depth. the 1 bit of news i like to hear is that new annitmations have been added so goalkeepers should pull off more saves and dribbling/tussling for the ball should look better and grittier.

i still think pes 2008 was OK not BAD or dredful as others like to put it. i mean it had problems and wasnt a leap forward or even a step forward but it could of been so much more and i think thats what pisses people off but i read that as they were developing it the PS3 screwed things up because it hadnt been released while they were making it so they couldnt do anything until they knew what it could do.

i rely heavely on pes so satsfy my gaming needs and i only ever sell a pes game a week or 2 b4 the next 1 whereas this 1 i sold after crimbo. the master league is what keeps me coming back but its the same every year. they dont even change the layout of it which is mindbogglingly poor.

random pes thoughts:

-Master league could be 1 of their new modes and may not be called master league anymore.
-Needs more 'close to the pitch' stadiums to get some atmosphere
-Losing La Liga = Appocalips
-Youth Acadamy on ML?
-Bring back pes shop
-Buy brands like nike and adidas if they loose la liga as that will mean they will have more money
-MEMORIAL MATCH MODE!!!! with my teams fully developed stats from ML
-New modes i.e. senario or challenge will be good for 5 mins on your own. i see them doing well when m8s come round
-Better stadium atmosphere
-Goalkeers are the worst thing on a game ever since games were invented 1000s of years ago.
-FIFA is so slow that if they won the ball on the edge of their own box in that game i could go downstairs, make myself a sandwhich, get a pack of crisps, make a drink and come back upstairs and they would of possibly reached the halfway line.

also with the midfields i just thought well you dont know what formation he is playing and he might have special tactics on like he may have two holding midfielders man-marking 1 guy so maybe thats why their close. other than that its all you should expect from a game.

You have a point, the AI was also quite poor in PES6.. maybe NOT in attacking play -but- the Defensive positioning was poor.

The main difference is that PES08 haves poor Defensive Positioning coupled with an incapacity to defend effectively. On the other hand, PES6 also had poor Defensive Positioning, but you could actually make up for the poor positioning -by- properly timing the controls for sliding tackles and pressuring and marking (R2 Button).

But still, PES6 haves a lot to improve in the Defensive Play.

^Yeah I felt the same way. I think pes 5 showed the player's skill instead of luck and also pes 5 had the best defnding but the attacking was a bit poor.

@Muzza798, the graphics may look good, but the animation and control is lacking somewhat which detracts from the graphics.
I feel there is something missing on the controls on the pc while using an xbox 360 controller. There does not seem to be the same level of controll as with pes6 on xbox360 or previous ps2 versions.
