Would this be legal for KONAMI to do?

Let's say you have a edit mode where you can change everything about a team player and logo.

Next you have these parts that make up a logo. For instance When you look at F.C Barcelona's logo you can see it has color, it has a Kinda of England flag in there and so on.

Would it be legal to put these things in separately in the game somewhere in the edit mode, so we can add them our self to a whole, to make it a complete logo?

The parts have to be more than just 4 pieces. It should not be noticeable.

That way we can poop on the license

I'm sure they would be allowed to do this, they did with the boot editor a few years back didn't they. We could make Nike Vapors, Diadoras etc I think, so it was obvious what Konami were aiming to do. Maybe they received a telling off for it, but I can't really see this being the case.

Why do people care so much about boots for. the ones they have are good enough. I thought the kits were what mattered

I just think people would like options. I know I would, plus I can't imagine it being too hard to implement a boot editor, considering they've had it several times in the past. It just allows the gamer to further personalise players and make them more life-like by giving them the correct boots etc. Obviously the kits matter, but why can't we have both an extensive boot editor and kit editor ? On the PS2 back in the day, I'm sure there was around 40 templates for kits, and we could mix and match them to our desire, now though on the "next-gen" versions, only a choice of 15 is available which is dreadful.

You know...If this isn't illegal, why doesn't SEABASS include it in the game? You said on the ps2 there were 40 kits? probably made by fans right? Then why can't SEABASS do it? He knows people have been complaining. Or is it just because it's to hard to create this and to put in the game?

I think its a case of they give you an editor and you can do what you want they (konami) take no responsibility of what we the fans do.....remember in pes5 we could make what ever we wanted I for one made the lpool logo and kits called the satium anfield etc so i kno thats illegal because konami didint have the liscence for that but i wanted them so i made them...... thats my price..

The fact is KONAMI are to lazy to look at these forms, hell they hardly change the game every year. The Champions League is a huge boost. KONAMI should go back to "Old" Edit Mode.

I don't think it is a case of people caring too much about boots. The issue here is that in the PES versions for PS2 we had a better Edit Mode, and we could create Boots such as; Vapors, Adidas, Diadoras, Puma, etc..

By plain logic, people where expecting much more from the PS3 versions of PES. I mean, if we could create awesome Logos, Kits, and Boots in the PS2 versions -then- logically, we expected an even better Edit Mode for PES08.

And obviously, the PS3 can manage much better Edit Modes than the ones we had back in the PS2 versions. So even if the boots we have already in PES08 "are good enough" -there's- nothing that can justify WHY we had such a crappy Editing Mode in a PS3 game.

If this is Next Gen -then- I prefer the Old Gen.

100% legal.

KCET used to put dummy kits on for every team on the old ISS Pro games. So the kits ended up looking like the real thing but not quite the same as the real ones.

I think the reason why they got away with it was because the graphics on the old PS1 made the kits look a little fuzzy so you could not make out the fine details such as the team logo and the kit supplier (Nike, Adidas etc).

They could do it easily if they wanted to.

i found it strange how on the odl PES's the fake names were close, like ronaldo was ronnaldo, and then all of a sudden he was like ranoldid or something stupid what was all that about.

the 2pots about boots, he is clearly just giving an example of what the thread creator is asking hes not "caring so much about boots" but providing a terrific example of what the thread is asknig for, i was gonna provide that example until i started reading and saw the chap already had.

who ever figured out how to make the vapours must of stumbled on it by accident though, it wasnt complicated but it wasnt that obvious either!a rare example of konami been smart!

wyy dont they just give us a boot/kit editor where we have a all the tools of MS PAINT so we can just draw what we want on them

Don't know if there are any BIG fans of Classic Players here -but- I would greatly appreciate if Konami uses that same concept to unlock Classic Players faces.

For example, with the Boots you could create Nike Vapors or Puma Legends by doing a series of combinations, etc, etc.. So I think the same could be done to create (in this case "unlock") exact copies of the faces of some of the greatest players of all-time; Maradona, Cruijff, Pele, etc, etc..

And yeah, Konami can be very smart when they feel like it. I just hope they include something "smart" in PES09.

it must be illegal, that is probably why forums such as this are told by the FA that they can not make option files available for download that contain the premier league kits.

is it legal for me to make a t-shirt with a nike logo on it? of course not!

What you are saying is not what i meant. Making a tshirt with a nike logo on it and SELL it would be illegal. But if you have half the logo then it wouldn't. KONAMI can put the parts in separately and say they are logo's. But a edit mode would make it possible to combine or blend and that's up to the players.

I never mentioned selling anything, so why you have added that part in I am not sure!

I think you will probably find that making a copy of anything that is copyrighted is illegal, however you are more likely to be prosecuted if you are doing it for financial gain!

To suggest that putting two halves of a copyrighted logo is little short of ludicrous, do you think that anybody standing in court could deny the real intention of that one?!

The work will have to be done by the guys that enjoy doing such things ( I graciously tip my hat to those aforementioned gentleman) but I agree totaly that the ability to do so should be present within the game.

I think shankly is god already answered your question

it wouldnt be illigal if it was persoanl use..only when you make money from it would it then be illegal.

I love how, clearly, everyone obviously knows about all the restrictions placed by the contracts signed by FIFA, the FA, Konami etc.

Yeah tell us more, or is it a secret?

I know nothing of their contracts, but google 'copyright law' and you might get a clue about the general subject.

As I started, sites such as this would be able to host edited option files without the FA getting involved unless they had a legal right to stop them doing so, even when the file is shared freely. this is not just opinion but a fact
