Some PS2 are dual-layer, like Gran Turismo 4.
I normally play pro on my mate's PS3, but seeing as I'm not moving back in with him for another coupla months I'm thinking of buying the PS2 version for here, except shitty old PS2 slims can't handle dual-layer discs :-/

I'm sure that Gran Turismo 4 is a Double-Layer game.

However, you are wrong about the slim PS2s not being able to handle Double-Layer discs.

I burned a Double-Layer DVD+R the other day (a film) and put it in my slim PS2. And it played okay and didn't have no problems with the layer break during the film. So my guess is that the slim PS2 does play them properly.

The early slims don't, like the SCPH-70003 models. I think it was the first series of the slims to come out which had this problem, but any later ones seem to handle dual-layer fine.

Is the SCPH-70003 model the black slim PS2 that came out in 2004? I heard somewhere that the early versions of the slim PS2 had endless problems ranging from overheating issues to lens failures.

Because I've got a silver slim PS2 which I bought in late 2006 and it has no problems with playing Double-Layer DVD+Rs.
