PES09 vs PES08, Comparison..

Only two months to go before the release of PES09 -and- already there's some people Labeling PES09 as "another disappointment". And I cannot help but Ask Why is it going to be a Disappointment??

With PES08, the Gameplay Footage pretty much summed up the game Perfectly..

An Unfinished Arcade Game, with the Momentum always set at a Ridiculously High Pace, Defenders who simply aren't Properly Suited to deal with PACE, the FACT that Everything Depends on PACE, and ultimately Gameplay that discourages Collective Plays -because- of the poor AI positioning.

Another significant annoyance about PES08 is the FACT that you CANNOT do much Inside of the Penalty Area -because- the Pace is too Fast for such a Small Area (Space). This resulted in Countless of Easy Goals being scored from Outside the Area.. plain Unrealistic and Arcadish.

This is shown in Full Detail in many Video Clips, I won't go into all of them -but- you can look for 'PES 2008 Gameplay Footage' via "YouTube".

Anyways, I've been hearing a LOT of comments about How the Graphics are the same as before, and How the Gameplay is just a slightly Tweaked version of PES08, and so on..

And this simply isn't true, I have actually taken the Time to watch and Compare PES08 with PES09 -and- The Difference is Abysmal, PES09 is clearly Different.

Judging by the so-called "Disappointing" Leipzig Versions, PES09 plays similar to PES5; the Gameplay is Slower and yet more Responsive, it is Possible to Dribble Inside of the Penalty Area, it is Possible to string good Collective Plays, Defenders seem much better, and it seems Konami has achieved a good Balance between Defenders and Attackers.

No Graphical Improvements?? Just compare the Wax-Looking Cristiano Ronaldo we had in PES08 -with- the Realistic-Looking Cristiano Ronaldo in PES09. Another good example is Juan Roman Riquelme, he looks much more realistic now.

Regardless of that, I must admit that this Differences aren't all that Clear at 1st.. But after watching a couple of PES08 vids, and after seeing just How Unrealistic and Wax-Like players where (looked) before.. I must say that there's been a Significant Improvement in the Graphics.

All of this Improvements can be seen in this "YouTube" clips; 'PES 2009 Caniggia vs Italian', and 'Pro Evolution Soccer - PES 2009 Behind the Scenes'.

Negatives?? PES09 doesn't looks that "Great" from Wide Angles (from afar), it could look better.. although, the Gameplay vids may be misleading.

Another Negative in my Opinion, is the same Flaw that's been in there since PES5 (or PES6?), Attackers turn into World Class Defenders.. Consistently Stealing the ball from the Defenders Feet -something- that Rarely happens in real-life.

And of course, another Point that could be considered as Negative is the FACT that we will be playing PES5 in 2009 -although- in all Honesty, when has FIFA ever been that good in terms of Gameplay??

With all this said, PES09 looks set to re-affirm the series.. If anything, it Looks better than any other PES game, let's hope it Plays better too.

Any Opinions on this matter are welcomed.. has anyone else done side-to-side comparisons between PES08 and PES09?? This is the Thread to point out those Differences.

Couldn't even be arsed reading all that...

Regardless PES 09 has to be better than 08...

It's quite funny How people always reply when you make Controversial Statements.. But anyways, the Post could've been shorter -so- for those of you who (somehow) cannot read a Simple Post.. I will just go straight to the Bottom Line.

FIFA is a game that Never Looks or Plays as good as the Gameplay Footage (or Touched-Up Pics) suggest..

Unlike FIFA... Konami's PES is simply "what you See is what you Get" -this- was the case with PES08 -as- the Gameplay Footage summed the game perfectly.

If I had actually bothered watching the many Gameplay Videos -then- I would Not have bought the game.

However, FACT remains that I didn't see any PES08 vids -and- I was very Disappointed with the actual Game. But still, Konami didn't "lied" or anything, they released Gameplay Footage of PES08 -and- PES08 was exactly as the Footage Suggested.

An Unfinished effort from Konami, probably The worst version of the series.

Anyways, Bottom Line of this thread is that the Differences between PES08 and PES09 are there for all to see -and- of course, with Konami, what you See is what you Get.. So, I expect PES09 to be just as good as PES5.
