Agreed.

I often thought I was the only person on here who didn't think PES2008 was a complete disaster.

Yes, but from experience.. it seems that the Difference between the PS3 versions and the 360 versions -is- a Significant one, most people that enjoyed PES08 played the 360 version.

Personally, I thought the PS3 version was Not worth playing.

Can't judge on the 360 version as I've never played it.

I don't want the next PES to go back to any other version because I feel that this one it the most fluid in its movement. I think the past games, although being fun to play, were a little more rigid in the player movements. I feel I can do more in PES 2008. As well as the goal keeping, I actually would like speed and strength to not be so much of a focus in tactics and playing style. Although I learnt to cope with it and time my tackles better, I can't stand playing people that are so one dimensional in their play. But then again, there's always weaknesses in the games to exploit.

Agreed.. although, that's what I meant to say. Konami should keep PES5 as the Core Gameplay -but- they should really improve on the Animations and Movements.

PES08 failed in this aspect because Pace was so Important to the game -that- the game suddenly became one-dimensional and boring, it wasn't what we expected from a PES Title.

We all know PES5 and PES6 (although with crappy Graphics and Animations) where better games.

So why not Keep the same Gameplay -and- just Elaborate on the player Movements and Animations.

Anyways, PES09 looks clearly Different to PES08, the Pace has gone down -and- that should give way to a more Tactical game, a better game.

the thing is that for me pes 5 was the best i mean call me a geek yea but me n my mates stayed up till like 6 in morning playing pes 5 the feeling you got from scoring or making an awesome pass was unreal its like you could actually feel a sense of achievement in that game....

its always the same with the Gen jump games need to go back to go forward ill almost guarantee you that the best pes on the 360/ps3 will be when we are ready for next gen consoles again.....

the guys who say new pes games (6,08,09) are shit are just disapointed its not like or better than pes 5 which i can appreciate but not understand as pes has always been the best footy game out there and 2008 is better then fifa 08....

just take a look at gta just for example San Andreas was awesome and huge with so many things to do but GTA IV was smaller and lesser because of the console jump it will get better in time....

and amateur i play it on ps3 some how it just feels better....

The problem, which might be out of Konami's hands, is that there will always be a weakness for the gamer to exploit. If someone finds an easy way to score, they go for it constantly. Unfortunately, Konami cannot alter gamers' mentality. I choose to play passing football, but there will always be a short cut to take. I remember in the past games, through passes were a nightmare to defend. You'd be able to see it coming before it happens, but once someone presses the button, your defender will take a step forward, losing his marker and letting the ball go past for a one-on-one against the keeper. Then there's the dummy shot, which in my view, is as bad as cut backs. You know the defender or goalkeeper will just drop to the ground when you execute the "skill".

I don't know, I think the PES series has lacked something after PES5.. that Aspect of Individualism that you felt when you played the game, that's No longer there.

I remember that in PES5, I could notice a clear Difference between gifted players and average players.. I could dribble through Defenders with Joaquin or Ronaldinho -but- that wasn't possible with Average players.

After PES5, that feeling just isn't the same. Can Only hope PES09 achieves the same Level of Individualism and Realism.

Completely agree. That's what Tweaks are for, Konami should fix those "Weaknesses" year after year -until- a decent Level of Realism is finally accomplished.

Cut Backs, Dummy Shots, Wing Play, Through Balls that are impossible to Intercept, etc, etc.. all those Flaws should be fixed. If we Anticipate Correctly -then- we should be able of Effectively countering any of those things.

I think it should all be in the Controls, we should have Controls for Anticipating any move. Cut Back Goals and the Impossible to Intercept Through Balls are particularly annoying.. We should have Controls to counter those particular moves.

And of course, that Minimalistic Approach that served so well in the past.. I think Konami should keep that same Minimalistic Approach; Simple Controls to perform Complex skills..

Complicated Controls are too slow for the actual gameplay, would not Improve the game in any way.

That's pretty much what I think, I just thought PES5 was much better.

Maybe PES08 wasn't all that bad -but- we all expected more from a PES Title, even more considering this is a Next Gen Title.

I hope PES09 re-introduces that "PES5 Magic".. the Graphics would be the icing on the cake.
