No, I am not going over to FIFA.

But Konami are really really really PISSING me off now. I have compared PES 2008 and 2009 for awhile now and I can happily say that PES 2009 will be an AWESOME game, gameplay-wise. It's so much smoother and the graphics are much clearer.

'BUT' ... 19 STADIUMS?!?!?!? are you kidding me? There was rumor about 24 stadiums and that Anfield and Old Traford will be included but even if that's the case.....24 stadiums is still shit man.

I think it pes5 or w.e that had 37 stadiums.......so in about 3 years Konami have lost almost 20 stadiums......WHY?!?!?!?

We need to do something for real and send Konami emails ( the konami located in EU ) about this bullshit....

I could see the argument if it was 5 stadiums, maybe even 10, but 19 is plenty in my opinion. Yes, I'd like more like everyone else, but I'm not going to knock the game just because there's "only" 19.

the lack of stadiums does irritate me considering this is an apparent next gen game. The quality of the stadiums featured is excellent although there isn't enough variety. I would have preferred 5-10 new stadiums than a champions league license as you feel like you're playing in the champions league anyway in the master league. If the gameplay is as good as i think it is going to be none of this will concern me for long. They also should have replaced at least one of the gay fake stadiums with a real ground maybe from a champions league team.

yeh but when 3 years ago Konami had 37 and now they have 19....thats a little shitty....

I honestly don't care myself. Yeah it might be "nice" to have Old Trafford, but at the end of the day the majority of the game is spent looking down at the pitch and even on replays you usually only get the bottom tier of the stands. So in practice you don't really miss out on much!

so long as theres a nice difference i dont care, some absolute architectual stunners and some run of the mill ones, just so if yoru say fulham your home games arent at camp nou but at some lesser place, and if your chelsea vice versa and ect....

stadiums aint that important to me, when i play a friend and their trying to figure out what stadium we are in and what similarities it has ect i always wonder why!who cares!

They weren't next-gen 3 years ago, and didn't have to meet "next-gen" requirements, so to speak.

Most believed Konami didn't meet them in 2008, so they were probably looking at getting the fundamentals right in 2009, making the game actually look next-gen. This was no doubt time consuming, and probably a reason why we're seeing 19 stadiums in the game.

Anyway, isn't 19 an improvement on last year? Wasn't there something like 15 in 2008? If my theory is correct, at least they're expanding them. Slowly, yes, but they're still expanding.

And if they GET the fundamentals right this year, they'll have more time and money next year to spend on such small details.

these are just simple and LITTLE things that would make the game so much more complete....with todays technology we should have 45-50 stadiums if we had 37 stadiums on the weak ps2 and xbox. EASILY!

This so-called "Evolution" is too Slow.. I think they need a bigger Team -because- the yearly updates are just Unacceptable, at this rate we'll see a New game by 2013.

Forget about the Stadiums.. we Need a New Engine Capable of finally bringing the players to Life. The current Animations and Movements are dull, completely Mechanic.. Konami needs to start improving in that aspect, if they don't, Fans and Magazines are already growing Intolerant of the same Animations year after year.

@proevofan:

Well, that's the assumption you make. Bear in mind better graphics takes up more space on discs. They've got two new modes to include as well, more animations, more sounds I'm assuming and who knows how much space online takes up? Not to mention they've got a proper edit mode back in this one which means more space needed for the database of options....

And seeing as they didn't meet the right standard for PES 2008 they need a game where they just have all the fundamentals in place at the right standard, so that NEXT year they can start optimizing everything, squeezing in more stadiums etc.

If next year they don't improve then I think we'll have good cause to be pissed. And who knows, in a couple of months they might release a free "Stadium pack" over PSN and XBL!

I wonder if we complain about these things like stadiums and licenses and boots and master league and new game engine because this game is soo good that we expect it to be better and better.....honeslty I think Koanami have reached their PEAK with pes5 and now PES 2009 with this game engine......Konami have probably been working on a new game engine for a year or more and for 2010 there will be a change ( that i promise you an insider told me but he couldnt reveal anything else to risk things ). But yhea 2009 will be the last PES as we knot it. Hopefully the new engine will be good.

Whislt I don't believe an insider told you anything for a second, it is a definite possibility that they've been working on a new PES engine for this generation built from the ground up for these consoles but they've had development problems or some such.

Bear in mind whilst games such as MGS4 and Final Fantasy have years in development in order to perfect their engine, the PES team if they were working on one would only have a year. Unless they work on it on the side whilst making the annual game.

It is a very real possibility and I think Konami will rise to the occasion and give us quite an overhaul next year, as they seem quite good at responding to criticism and suggestions.

so really the thread title should be called "enough is not quite enough."

Fair point, but I can't see how it affects the gameplay, the most important thing. I'm sure there's a legitimate reason for it but really, their priorities this year were to get the fundamental gameplay sorted and improve those awful aspects of 2008. Stadiums aren't a big enough issue compared to fixing the problems that are present in 2008.

There will be more stadiums with each title and in fact I can even see stadiums being released as downloadable content...

If you believe me or not about the insider....i could care less to be honest. All he said was that this is the last pes as we know it. Over at WENB they are expecting a new engine next year. Yes they have been working on it on the side. For about a year and a half now.

Believe what you want, I doubt this guy would lie.

Yeah I am with you on this one. Whether I believe you or not is no issue, WENB have been hinting at this since before 2008

Right simple question. Will lack of stadiums stop you buying the game ?

Because i know for damn sure it won't stop the masses buying the game.
