If anything, people who know less about football are more likely to pick players like Maradonna, Pele, Beckham, Rooney etc...

People have to a tendency to not rate players as all time greats until 10-20 years have passed for some reason, but you must remember most players that played in the 60's and 70's, possible even 80's would have a real hard time if they were to play against todays players.

Today's game is a lot faster than it used to be so from that angle yes the players of yesteryear would have to adapt to the pace.

However, back in the 60's, 70's and 80's some of the pitches they used to play on meant players had to work a harder with the ball to keep it under control, dribble etc. It was also a lot more physical and defending players could get away with murder compared with some of the ridiculous decisions given these days as fouls (re Mike Riley, Rob Stiles, 2 absolute nobs!!!).

On Seasbass' selection i did laugh at the sight of A.Cole's name in an all-time XI. Yes, he is a good player and it is a matter of opinion but there is no way he would get in to an all-time XI. He just won't!!!

Can i just say possibly he's picked this teams due to the way he likes those players and how to play, I mean i think we can agree when we choose a dream team it is usually the best of the best in all positions to be unbeatable. Some people don't choose like that, think about what you type first.

Seabass must be the dumbest prick i know. Look at his answer to the following question in an interview with IGN.

IGN: If you could pick you're a dream team of the greatest players of all time, who would be in your squad?

Seabass: Hmm. I would probably include Gerd Muller, Zidane, Cruyff… I'd also have Dennis Bergkamp and Gattuso, plus Essien in defensive midfield role. Thuram would be in there, along with Rio Ferdinand, Maldini, Ashley Cole and Peter Schmeichel in goal.

Dennis Bergkamp, Gatusso, Essien, A Cole, R Ferdinand in his all time team, how much does he know of football? What a fucking loser...no pele, no maradonna, no puskas, no di stefano, no beckenbauer etc.
No wonder he is ruining our favourite game, he doesn't have a clue...

Agreed.. this is That Difference between Programmers -and- Real Football Fans. I think Konami should have a Football Expert in their Team, just to have better direction.

It would help Konami if they had someone giving directions, like the architect of the game.. I mean, with all the work and effort programmers put into the game, I don't think they have the Time (or frame of mind) to think about New Ideas.

I think this is why PES is stuck and FIFA is boring.. Programmers and co. are not Football Experts, they don't know Football as well as you'd think.. I'm guessing many Football Fans have a clearer Idea of How Football should be simulated.

Probably.. Although, Maradona and Pele where great players -and- would be just as good Today.

Beckham, Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, etc, etc.. that's when it gets out of hand.

Fabregas was Not fast, Zidane wasn't Fast, John Terry is Slow, Juan Roman Riquelme is Slow, Marcos Senna is Slow, Andrea Pirlo is Not Fast, etc, etc..

Are you telling me Pele and Maradona would struggle Today?? Please.. If anything, Maradona, Pele, or Cruijff -would- make Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo look like distant 2nds.

I disagree. Maradona and Cruyff maybe, but Pele never tried his luck in the big leagues, he stayed in Brazil, so for me he cannot be the best player ever, because the Brazilian Leagues are second rate now, let alone 40 years ago. He was still an unbelievable player, but not the best.

The fitness nowadays is unbelievable, and in the 70s and 80's some players were still smoking and drinking while playing Professional Football. I dont believe they could cut it at the highest level as they were, but the skill and talent that they had would still set them apart as top players.

Not so much in terms of speed, but in terms of fitness. Things are very different now. That's not to disrespect the quality of those players, but in my opinion Pele wasn't playing against the same type of class he would be today. And that's not to say he'd struggle today, but it would be a little more of a challenge.

EDIT: Yeah what redmadlad said...

It sounds to me that he was sort of put on the spot and perhaps pressureized into a rapid response, hence naming those in which came to his head????

Dude, Pele was the nitghtmare of European Clubs.. he beat AC Milan and Benfica, not to mention he was Decisive for Brazil. I think he would be a great player Today.

And as for Fitness, we must recognize that Nowadays we have much better Physique Programs, players receive more protection, balls are easier to handle, etc, etc.. So chances are that Pele, Maradona, and Cruijff -would- have been just as good Today.

Puskas, Pele, Maradonna, Beckenbauer, di stefano...all of them will make CR7, Kaka etc. look like shit! A player with real class will show his class in any league on any given day! The star players of today are good, but we don't have a standout awesome player like pele, maradonna etc.

Agreed.. Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo just aren't as gifted as; Maradona, Pele, Zidane, Ronaldo, etc, etc..

I think Ronaldinho was better than Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo. And Messi is restrained by Injuries. Nowadays we have great players -but- None has that combination of Technical and Tactical Skills we've seen in players like Maradona.

Maradona was close to a Juan Roman Riquelme + Leo Messi -in- One Player. We don't have players like that anymore.

I totally agree, we have good players, but the last time a player really took the world by storm the way pele/maradona etc. did was back in 96 with Ronaldo. The best players of our generation is still Ronaldo, Romario, Ronaldinho and Zidane. Kaka, CR7 and Messi is very good, but it seems as if all of them still has plenty of room for improvement.

It was really sad to see this weekend that CR7 dived AGAIN, to get a penalty AGAIN, to get another goal from the spot AGAIN. CR7 is a diver, Messi is too selfish sometimes, Kaka can fade in matches. Not one of them is nearly the complete player pele, maradona, zidane etc. was.

A lot of players have good Technique.. But players with Both great Tactical and Technical skills, those types of players come in very few numbers.

Juan Roman Riquelme is of that rare breed, but he never had the Pace of Pele or Maradona. Great player though -and- on his Day could do things Maradona couldn't do.

I always think of Riquelme as extremely Underrated -and- as a player who seems to give Incredible performances whenever he feels like it, you never know when it might come.. but when everything goes his way, he is one-of-a-kind.

Anyways, there are a Few Modern Players with great Potential.. Leo Messi is already becoming an adept Passer, Fernando Torres is a great Forward, etc, etc.. Hope some of them live up to the expectations.

Yeah hopefully, I think the two players with the most potential is Leo Messi, and Sergio Aguero...they are 21 and 20 respectively, and already two of the best players in the world.

You are the one that doesn't have a clue, please try to make the best soccer game ever and then pic your dream team, OOOHhhhhhh yeah that's right, you can't make a game, who's the noob now.

Plus, he chose a pretty decent team, so, anyone who doesn't pic maradona or pele is a noob, lol, the key to his answer is "IGN: If you could pick you're a dream team", that means personal taste.

NOOB.
