PES 2009 Goalkeeper?

Dundon's

W.G.P
Ok from my own personal experience the goalkeepers are dropping everything and conceding really soft goals. Now I'm not saying that I'm 100% on this issue so I'd really like a general chat with people that have played a lot of 2008(Game I abandoned) and can comment as to if the GK's are better or worst this time around.

One more thing, have the goalkeepers gone done hill in general since PES6 and are too many goals scored now a result of rebounds?

P.S. I do not play Fifa.

So far the goalies are better than 2008. They can make hero saves that they would never of made in 2008.

I've played about 15 games now and ive yet to see the keeper actually catch the ball from a corner kick. Then again tho, ive only had about 15 corners but id expect a catch at least once

All in All so far, i'd say the keepers are defo better than 2008's ... but that wouldn't really be hard would it :p ?

I'll need to wait a few weeks before i can say weither im happy or not with them

so Far tho .. im happy enuf with them

Except Reina, does my tits in

Haha thats true, he's gone downhill i think, i could never understand why Jaaskelainen's stats were never better, he's a cracking keeper, maybe doesn't dominate the box at corners but as shot stoppers go he's one of the very best.

From what ive played so far keepers are parrying the ball a lot in the demo which is fine when he needs to dive but its happening when the ball is a few inches next to them. Although they are still better than 08

Yeah I played a few games on both PC and PS3 and the keepers seem better but I do agree that they tend to punch the ball out on crosses more often than would happen in real life. This was also the case in 2008. I have seen some good saves though :).

One thing I also noticed. If you chip the ball to breakaway player and the ball comes between the player and keeper, the keeper will most likely dive punch the ball away. Now sometimes the punch fits the situation. Other times it looks like he could have just grabbed it out of the air and maybe collided with the player a few feet away. This was also present in 2008 and not a game breaker at all.

Altogether they seem good. They will still give away a rebound goal from time to time. Especially from a close range shot right at them. Just have to hope it doesnt deflect to the striker :p.

how are chip shots in PES09? have they fixed that

I have not attempted one as of yet. Although the computer pulled one on me and missed barely :p.

My first goal though was a complete low flying rocket :). Shot deflected out of the box and Yaya Toure took a one timer from 25 yards out and burried it in the low right corner.

Ive played one game so far, Barcelona v Madrid and I havent noticed the shite goalkeeping yet. However, I won 4-0 and all the goals, Messi hat-trick and an Henry peach, were all goals that wouldnt have been saved even if Dudek was in there beside Casillas.

I think the goalies are a lot better, I've played 5 games up until now, but I've seen some great saves, new animations and no stupid fumbles, they nicely put the ball behind if they cannot hold on to them....

But I don't understand anyway. In real life, if you take 15 average matches you're bound to see at least one or two fumbles or mistakes...

Chip goals are pretty hard to score.TBH i just scored one chip goal in pes08 coz i always love to dribble past the keeper on 1 on 1.I hope the keepers will be fine in pes09 and they should make Valdes better.....

The goalies aren't as bad but they do seem to punch the ball out quite a lot.

Only bad thing that i came across was the keeper caught the ball but fell back into the back of the net. But he was diving backwards at the time so I'll let him off :)

Actually i did have one mishap with my goalkeeper, the opposition crossed the ball in and my goalkeeper could have easily caught it but instead he decided to chest it to the opposing striker who gladly obliged by twatting it in the top corner :realmad:

Yeah the keepers are the biggest fault i've found so far.

For example, played one game as Man Utd against Liverpool. Liverpool were attacking and Gerrard from the edge of the area lifted a ball towards goal for Torres to score. It bounces once about the 6 yard line as Van der Sar comes rushing out. He dives underneath the ball as it bounces over him into the goal. :fplm:

Waiting....
The keepers have been shit, but the defending is a lot better. Passes get intercepted more frequently, so you have to think before you pass. I think this is the Team Vision that was meant to be in PES2008.

They are only a bit better than 2008. Butter fingers still here. :-( That can ruin a game you know... Why on earth Konami cant correct that? Urghhhhhhh
