PES and FIFA

Im not trying to make fun of FIFA or anything as I dont actually care because I play PES but does anyone else think it's a childrens game?

I had FIFA 96, FIFA 98 and then my cousin had ISS Pro 98 which was brilliant I thought. I then bought a couple of the ISS Pro ones, they were class at the time even though players names werent real or their strips or nothing and you could only go National teams but the game was brilliant. I've bought PES ever since and the only FIFA i've played since was 1 match on FIFA 2003 and a couple of matches on FIFA 2007. I played the FIFA 2009 demo and it's just crap.

I don't know how people can play FIFA, the players are too small. The players are all alike. The shooting is a mess you score whenever you shoot from inside 30 yards and every game i've played on it goals fly in at both ends and it ends up 7-3 or 6-5 etc. For me its a childrens game.

FIFA 98 at the time, the last one I had when I was about 8 was good aswell you could play indoor matches. That was the best bit about it probably. Then as I said my cousin had ISS Pro 98 and I used to always go to his house and play it, we both went in the same team Italy and played Cups and loved the guy upfront with the grey hair who we called Ravanelli even though he had another name, I seem to think he was called Sousa or something. Great memories.

I was looking at pictures of FIFA players there and they are a shambles, Pirlo has long hair like Batistuta. Totti looks like Dean Windass. Del Piero has a square head. Some of the players in Fifa have white eyes. Inzaghi, Kaladze and others are unrecognisable. Cambiasso's egg shaped head is in PES but on FIFA he's got a square head. The only players that look right out of teh ones I was looking at about 20 were Maldini and Nesta.

The best bit about the FIFA demo was that the crowd were mumbling real songs, like the Celtic song "Willie Maley".

Really doesn't matter. Most of you people say it's about the gameplay, to me FIFA09 gameplay is very good. In pes i never cared about the real names faces and stuff. You people only use it when it's good for a cheap argument.

If you care about the PES gameplay than you will only look at the FIFA gameplay and not everything around it

True, however I now expect every game to look very good and PES players always look good and they move very much like the players in real life. If every player was bald in PES you'd still know who was who because their size and the way they move but in FIFA they all move the same and look the same size, the only way you can tell who is who is their hair colour or length.

I have FIFA09. i can say that everyone moves the same, some player have the wrong size. Only important players like TONI, they made tall but i have seen some dutch players who are either to small or tall. PES did a good job regarding the models

Yeah its not really labeled for kids only or anything like that but it has a large population of children playing it. And that's not a bad thing, but I don't think nearly as much children play PES.

Of course not mate, I'm just saying that when I play online in Fifa 08, I usually have to play a ten year old kid who picks Barca or Man U and starts insulting me when I start winning.

i love pes but if you give fifa a try you would probably end up liking it. i just don't get all the hate each game gets if you like the other one. i like playing call of duty but that doesn't mean i hate halo, i just like it for different reasons. i learned 2 years ago when fifa started getting good again that if i play it the way i play pes it's crap but if i play fifa as if i have never played pes then it's a really good game.

He is right, Fifa has a much larger kids audience than Pro Evo, thats why the 10v10 online mode doesn't grab my intention as you'll always get 3 or 4 kids on their ruining the game.
I remember Fifa 98 i used to love the indoor matches and the Blur music in the menu screens, that is the Fifa and have most fond memories of. Then i discovered ISS!

Dude... What bias bullshit is this!

I used to love PES (4, 5 and 6), but PES 2008 was rubbish, and as far as the demo seems PES 2009 could quite possibly be worse. As much as I hate to say this, I think you're just scared that FIFA 09 might actually be better, and as far as I've found so far, it's by far better than the shit sandwitch that Konami have handed us this year! The gameplay of FIFA this year is outstanding, the player models are spot on (size wise) from Manchester United to Aldershot Town. The only reason that I could think that you think that the players are too small is that you don't realise that the defult camera in PES 2009 is very close in. Now, I've always loved PES, and I myself was laughing my arse off about how shit FIFAs 2005, 06 and 07 were, but this season FIFA has won it for all money, and really to think otherwise is just being a plain ol' Fanboy.

You keep calling back to 1998... Who gives a fuck what the games were like back then, we all know that PES has kicked the crap out of FIFA since it was first released in 2001, and in truth I don't give a shit about anything more recent that this year game wise now as believe it or not... It's fucking 2008 and not 1998!

I've tried the new PES 2009 demo, and if Konami think that's a job well done, they can go fuck themselves, because it's rubbish.

-The ball is flat... I don't know how else to describe it...
-Players are clunky... It feels like I've got a pitch covered in badly designed robots designed by Honda for the purpose of walking up stairs!
-The ball physics and shooting is dreadful
-The game is yet to actually become Next Gen in any aspect apart from textures. The physical models of the players is still the same from the past 4 years odd, as I said the physics is shocking and in general the game plays like a badly updated game from 2006...

I would say that Konami were trying to copy FIFA 05 and 06 with this, because I have no other explination. They took aspects of the 2 worst football games I've ever played and turned them into one glorious shitheap and are trying to once again use the great name of PES to market shit! Sort it the fuck out Konami!

I actually agree with him. The players to me aren't as "robust" or as polished as they are in PES2009. Which make them look almost similar on the field. Unless you are looking at the game from a blimp should all of them look the same.

Agreed, the ability to curve (notice I say curve and not curl) the ball in FIFA09 console is very kiddish in nature. You can actually "curve" a ball going straight without some sort of bend/arch in trajectory.

How the hell can you find pro evo good?

Me and my mates have bought pro evo for the last couple of years BUT we find the demo completely crap, everyone did in my college, I just dont understand how you find it better than fifa? There is no logic into your thinking!

Wait... has anyone here actually played FIFA 09... Just putting it out there! The players do not look the same by any stretch of the imagination. I don't need a name on my players to know who they are, when Tito's on the ball, I know it's Tito. When Green's on it, I know it's Green, and when I have Commons showing the fullbacks who's boss, you're damn right I know who it is!

Maybe with the fanboy vision you can't see that, but hey...

Kiddish? What?

You can't bend a ball going straight at all... What do you mean no arch or trajectory? Are you seriously that bias that you can't actually see anything in any other game than PES...

The demo for PES 2009 is shit! PES 2008 was shit, so much so that I actually bought FIFA 08 when I had no intention to do so, as I'd given up after the joke that was FIFA 07! I don't see all of these problems though that people are trying to poke in FIFA this year though, seriously... Go and buy the game, don't even bother with the demo, because it kicks the living shit out PES 2008 and if the actual PES 2009 is even remotely similar to the demo it kicks the shit out of it too!
