Impossible to trick defenders and run past them anymore and if you are lucky enough to get past them they just stick to you and catch up unrealistically (some ponies playing for rosenbourg catching up with torres for example) Stepovers don't work, you can't do that dragback anymore - it says you can on the command list but doesn't make any sense of how to do it, can't do spin move.

Passing is a waste of time the ball goes to the wrong player or the computer's player all the time.

Tackling doesn't work either the computer's players just seem to bumble past you or miraculously turn and pass when there's no way they have the room or skill to do it.

The opposition AI is great - they are challenging and unpredictable at times
The AI on your team is so lame - you never have anyone truning forward to pass to.

So compunded with the facts that dribbling is worthless and the passing is more than questionable it's impossible ot have a fast moving attacking game.

wow! for a minite then i thought you were talking about fifa 09 because thats the exact issue with fifa....... why not just go on amature for a few games get used to controls etc.....its only the pro die hard evo fans that can go straight into top difficulty...

sound to me that u should of rough PES08 if u wanted to run circles around players lol, like sum1 said just lower the difficulty and ul be alright.

Go on the training mode and learn how to do skills, thats what i wil be doing.

This chap was obviously one of them annoying barca or inter boys that took a team out with one player in pes2008 and did not know the meaning of playing football. I can see a lot of these types hating the new game, whilst also gettting a beating online. great stuff imo

i hated the demo in every way but the final release is far better, just give it time as people say you need to get use to passing an moving keep the ball and try and pull defenders out of place to make the killer pass, its like the evo of old you wont be running rings round people you need to pass your way there

the only thing i agree with you on is how easy some slower players can catch the faster players,was playing l'pool vs man u, man u had a corner and i was set up for counter attack ball broke kindly for me so i sent torres racing clear with no player within 5-10 yrds of him but scholes caught him up to me this is the only thing wrong with the final game and thats just nitpicking

Its not like 08 when the pass will go directly to the player at ALL times, when you got the ball make sure you have a pass on and position your body in that direction and pass it..the days of first time passes to someone diagonaly away from you are gone, thank god

before the game, set your wing backs(if you use them) or wingers to make runs forward..plus, when you have the ball you will notice that your other players always start to make a run forward at some point but if you hold onto the ball too long they will retreat so keep an eye out for that and when they make a run forward try to pass into the space ahead of them..like in real life.

The game is slower to start with (I for one am ecstatic) but if you score an early goal you will find that the opposing team will come out of their shell, at that point I always set my tactics to counter attack and hit them on the break (unless I am playing a team of much lower standard which then I will carry on attacking..but its kinda hard these days to find a team of a lower standard though,since Im a Spurs fan..haha)

If you want 30 yard goals every two minutes, flashy lights etc etc..buy FIFA..everyone seems to think it has made leaps and bounds on 09, well, considering every other FIFA was piss poor that would be true, and although it has improved it is no match for PES on the gameplay front..FIFA is for game fans and PES is for REAL football fans!!

Yeah, like all PES games before, give it time, start on a low difficulty level to get to grips with it and you will soon unearth the beauty of real football!...PEACE!

From mybrief experience with PES2009, I agree that the game isn't very good, but I don't agree with all the criticisms levelled at it by the original poster.


Also - I think I discovered a bug in the game I played.

Ronaldinho got injured, so I went onto Substitutions on the menu, and swapped him for Julio Baptista, who I believe replaced him like normal in the next break in play. However, sometime later, I noticed Ronaldinho was still playing, and so I went onto Substitutions and Baptista was in grey (as if he was the one who had been subbed) and Ronaldinho was still on, and injured. So I ended up repeatinig the whole procress again, this time with Adriano.

In fact now I think about it - it's never been easy to score from range on FIFA, and on FIFA09 it's even harder - PES has always been the game where long range goals are easy.

Just dont understand how people have heaped praise on FIFA like it has suddenly overtaken PES when I think a football fan who knows how real games are played will prefer PES.
