I never use the radar... I set my own formation and I always know where my players are. But maybe that's just down to experience, not sure...

Oh, another thing about the L1 button... Don't use this with your centre backs as you will leave big holes and ESPECIALLY don't use it with the keeper... I do it sometimes out of bad habit and get owned. :(

LOOOOOOOOOOOL

The amount of times reina has started running up field and i have thought :eek:hmy: what the fuck is he doing, then i realise im holding the button

I so glad Liverpool is one of the main teams in this PES :)

In PES6 they was shit and slow, still didn't stop me pwning the Barca and Inter boys though :D

Biggest tip I can give you man is to not force your attack. Don't make high risk passes until you have a player who is breaking in to space. There is a lot of patient build up that has to be worked up before you can start getting through on goal. I know there are times where it seems best to counter with your forwards and go straight in to the defense, but a 2v4 situation rarely will work out for you.

Basically, take your time and posses the ball. Never be afraid to pass back, and always keep your eye on off the ball players. ;)

i'd say keep the ball moving in midfield for 5-10 secs then go looking for killer balls if nothing is on

I just keep the ball and bore the opponent lol... Works like a charm. They will always drag players out of position then bang your in. The best one is when you play the Barca or Inter boys. If you keep the ball between your defence and midfield, they will sometimes change their formation and throw everyone forward, oops big mistake...

Just a few general tips:

Don't understimate wing play.

Pass a lot, so you can find someone who is not man marked, it helps a lot if you aim your player towards who you're passing.... a crowded midfield, can be easily beaten by a few consecutive passes.

Try to improve your timing both on tackling, and disarming.
It's more important than ever that you don't go around with X pressed all the time...

Try to minimize your shots from outside the box.
This especially true when you have the space... when you can, always shoot from inside the box.
Shooting from outside the box, takes much more shooting technique and shooting power stats than a shot inside the box.

Use crosses abundantly.
Don't try to drible inside when you gain some space on the wings... a well timed cross is half a goal.
Learn how to do different kinds of crosses, 1st post, 2nd post, low cross, etc... try to practice in training to find out the different ways of crossing.

Use R2 when your head on goal!
When you have a breakaway and you're going through the middle, try to shoot and press R2 at the same time. The player will shoot with the inside of his foot, allowing a lot more placement with your shot...

yh until they start pwning you with eto, messi etc aka The untackleables

No. :) I'm not stupid enough to let them do that. If you look at my Liverpool formation, you will see I have Finnan and Hyypia. Not Arbeloa and Aggar/Skertel. Hyypia is a rock, even Adriano has problems moving him out of the way. The key to deal with players who use the "untackleables" is patience. It really makes me laugh, they do all these skills like no-ones business and I'm just standing there, watching them. Then at the right moment they will run out of ideas and yonk. I win. Messi is fast, but you don't really have to do anything, he will dribble he's ass off then run straight into you if you don't dive in. Just stay on your feet, don't press the pressure button and always stay goal side of him. Timing is key.

I shouldn't really say this, but when I play, I let the opponent go out wide, that's no skin of my nose. What I try to avoid is letting them play in the centre.

I know it may sound odd, considering we are discussing a footie video game, but a lot of the same principles that apply in the real game transfer quite nicely. Everything Gaffa just mentioned would be great advice to give to any real defender.

Approach your problems as you would if it were a real match. May sound cheesy, but it works.

Not to sound big headed, but I've played at semi-pro level in Goal. My defenders got it in the ear each time they fucked up and it was my job to keep them organised. What I love about PES is like what you've said, even though its a game, you can easily transfer it over and it works!

Whenever I try to play co-op PES with friends that don't know anything about football, I usually end up getting fed up after a few games. You simply have to have some sort of basic football knowledge to be successful. That's always been somthing I've loved about PES. I find myself thinking like a player in the match. It just makes the experience all the more immersive and exciting.

I just don't get that feeling when I play FIFA.

Yup I know what you mean...

But lucky enough I have a friend who use to pop round from time to time and he would bring round he's control. That was the best thing with PES6, you can play online with 2 people on the same PC. We wiped the floor with so many it was unbelievable lol...

One tip for a setting I always use is to set a DMF or your best defensive/tackling CMF's attacking arrow facing back towards your own goal. I know it sounds odd, but if you commit a defender forwards, the chosen MF is more likely to fill the gap and reduce the chance of a quick counter from the opposition.

all I do is take each pass as it comes - if you can't see a gap, run until you do - if they keep on pressuring you just grab the ball, pass back to keeper, it should be you who controls the pace. Then you can decide when to attack, for example attacking on the break, from a counter attack. That works well in this game, as well as dominating in midfield. I think midfield domination is crucial to a succesful game. If you think about it, all you have to do is keep the ball, don't try any rash/stupid passes, keep it simple. And if you're no good at shooting on this different system, still trying to get used to it, then use the control button always :)

I'm on top player and just finished my very 1st season. Finished 1st in the league (just) with Zenit finishing 2nd. I found the 1st few games quite easy to score goals but as the game went on they've got harder. Passing is the name of the game, very difficult to just run round players unlike previous pro's. Use the radar all the time, couldn't be without it. When in the last 3rd have a quick look to see where the nearest advanced player is and try a lucious chip through ball, works a treat!!

Hope this helps

Playing against human players or a top player AI makes hardly any difference. The only difference between humans and AI, the AI are more predictable. Human players will either wipe the floor with you, or you wipe the floor with them.

All the tips that have been given out work with both human and AI players. :)
