How does the computer determine the stats you start of with. is it random or does it depend on your performance.

its mostly random. Don't think its confirmed but if u play well during the trial match u could possibly get slightly better stats. The difference is rather insignificant though. Most of ur core stats like passing, shooting, pace will still be crappy.

In my little bit of testing the actual trial match doesnt count for a great deal.

However the size and weight of your player will. I made a 73 plus kilo and 183 cm tall player, his starting speed was 74, A smaller and lighter player his starting speed was 80 but his heading ability was alot worse.

We (thats a mate and me) tried various different sizes and whilst the trial match is a variable it was nearly always

small and light = good speed bad heading, physical things
bigger fella = better stamina (ususally) but speed never over 75 starting rate

will be interested to read if anyone has found anything different

Your starting position (dmf, amf, cf, etc) determines your initial stat a lot. Wingers (smf, wf) usually results in fast player even if he is big. Your rating in the scout match determines what teams will want to sign you.

If you notice, in the "check formation" screen when you're in the scout match, you can't see your skill. The shape of the hexagon for any build is always the same. However, if you use big man, in the scout match your player will be like sluggish and vice versa.

I have created a SS and I have started 3 different BALs, using the exact same stats, except on my last one, where I edited (increased) the muscles on his leg.

The 2 first were extremily similar... only varying in aggression and stamina by a couple of points.

The 3rd one had very good speed (80 speed at start compared to 78) but a lower stamina (73 in comparison to 75).

My player is 1,81m 78Kg.

If anyone is interested try to see if increasing the muscles on his legs (and other parts) has any inffluence in stats...

I created another legend yesterday to see if I could get a better starting agility than 80, as this is a stat that cannot be altered.

I made a WF height 187 weighing 74 & got starting agility of 87 with a top speed of 85. The shooting passing etc are not very good but I'm happy with those stats.

I did a lot of dribbling & taking defenders on in the scouting match I'm not sure if this made a difference or not. I did get 1 assist & sent loads of crosses into the box, I forgot to check my rating after the game.

Playing on top player.
