Looking for classic PC games available for free

Still having fun with my netbook and looking for qood quality PC games that are available for free.

So far I have downloaded the original GTA's and Doom 1 and 2 and having a blast playing them on it when the missus is boring me with Dancing on Ice and such. However, I need more.

Anyone got any good suggestions for games and also any idea where I can find them? (i'm not on about ISO's here, i'm on about abandonware or freeware files...)

Be very careful with this on the forum. Not all abandonware is legal so whilst suggestions are fair enough, links might not be.

Can't think of any off the top of my head but then I am at work.

I understand, been reading up on the abandoware situation while waiting for a response.
