Problems with PC version

Hi,
I play in the U.S. with a UK version of PES 2009. I have played approximately 25 online games. Only 2 of those games played smoothly (no constant lag, teleporting, etc.).

I know some people say that they have no online problems, but the majority complain about poor quality. I know it frustrates me.

After the online problems with PES 2008, I bought the UK version of PES 6. I played several (over 50) online games in the last with absolutely no lag or interuption. It was awesome. Unfortunately, Konami have shut down the PES 6 servers as most of you know.

I own and have played every version of FIFA since 1994. When gameplay in the 2007 release turned to crap, I discovered PES, in the form of Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer 2007. I was awestruck. The graphics, gameplay and overall realism was absolutely fantastic. I became a PES fan from the first game I played.

Unfortunately, the 2007 version I bought was the U.S. version and could never find anyone to play online with. I decided to purchase the PES 2008 UK version, knowing there would always be someone to play online with.

I still feel that PES is the best soccer game on the market, but online play is the most significant drawback it has.

I just don't understand how my connection is green or yellow, and my opponent is always red. I chatted with with two opponents before a game and they say that they are green/yellow and I am red. How is that. I go to the Konami website and perform a connection speed check and it always comes back as A's (the best).

When I play online, most of the games end up with very bad connections. I honestly do not know where the players are on the field. I recieve a 20 yard pass with the nearest defender 15-20 yards away. By the time the ball gets to my feet and I turn, the defender has taken the ball and is 10 yards away from me and heading toward my goal. How can this be.

Anyway, I am frustrated and thought I would vent. Thank for listening. Any advice or feedback is appreciated.

Yes that's right...

But some people blame lag on the game, don't get me wrong it lags some times. (PES09 has never lagged for me). But nowadays allot of people have wireless connections. Wireless is NOT for gaming. Anyone will tell you this. Also, during peak times, allot of the UK ISP's cap their customers, giving them higher pings. Even though they rent a 20MB line, depending on the ISP, they will cap it to say 2MB line during peak hours. Its stupid that they do this. But once again, people will blame the game and not their ISP....

But as for UK vs US or US vs UK it shouldn't make any difference.

BTW, what platform do you have PES for? And what connection do you have? I have a 10MB line that never gets capped, and I have PES on the PC. If you also have PES for PC, try to add me and will have a friendly just to see what the connection is like.

Also, if some people ain't aware. Virgin, Sky, Talk Talk, Tiscali and a couple more, these are some of the companies that cap your connection. BT, o2 do not cap your connection. Whether its cable, wireless, dsl or adsl, the 4 companies will cap you. o2 are one of the few companies that offer adsl2+ this is a more secure line, stable line and almost doubles your speed!

Gaffa08, see when you say your connection gets capped do you mean it will randomly sign you out of the playstation network? my internet is with sky and sometimes I am randomly signed out of the network, with an error has occured message.

Which is very strange because I can play many games lag free for hours. But every now and again this will happen, which causes me to lose the match I am playing.

Any ideas mate?

sounds like your wireless and its dropped connection but my m8 has sky and that does randomly drop connection altho it hasnt been too bad lately

but gaffa is right ,i had bt unlimited ,but it was only on a 2 meg line and was wired ,pes08 and cod4 lagged but pes08 took me 5-10 minutes to log in ,now its upto 8 meg pes08 logs in a second ,and so does pes09 with barely any lag

personally i think the message is ,look at your broadband package,get unlimited with a high speed line and keep it wired

Punkbuster

Does anybody know if PES 2009 uses the Punkbuster anti-cheat service? If it does, that would explain a lot of problems.
