Who's the best defenders in the game?

Hi im struggling to find a great defence!I play a 3 man line because i feel 2 centre backs can leave long balls wide open as they leave it to each other.You might not agree but i would like advice on this.I currently have M.Richard at right back,Julio Cesar in the middle and Walton on the left.Theyre all pretty quick,though apart from Richards not amazing defensive ticks.I had Ruggeri and he always seemed to appear when the ball entered the opposition attacking zone,but hes old now,any ideas?

might want to try chiellini if you want a m. richards style: fast and strong.
he's very different from the standard italian defender.


edit: about your formation, it's alright, you can do with a 3 men back as long as you have them sitting right in front of the goal and not too deep into the field.

when i played with 3 men back, i had m. richards puyol and toure with thuram (long time back) as my backup.

you need the speed so that these guys can double back.

Well, the standard is a much better defender than the pes one.
Anyway, I agree though, Chiellini is great even in the game.

Hi,yes its the ML im playing.Some good suggestions there thanks.Ive been using Rijkaard or Kaiser in front of the back 3 and selected that position to go up for corners with some good results!

Rijkaard is truly amazing!! If you're into classic players I say get also:
Beckenbauer (classic Germany)- he has amzing stats, both on attack and defence.
Ruud Gullit (classic Netherlands)- the best player in the whole PES in my opinion, has great stats in everything, and can play all over the field.
Blanc (classic France)- 98 in defence has to say something.
Baresi (I think classic Italy) and Passarella (classic Argentina)- amazing defenders and also amazing cpatains- 98in mentality and teamwork.

Thats the kind of thing!Al check those out.I agree Gulliit is the b#llocks!Had him on PES5 too and he was banging em in like Ben Dover!Just waiting for him to regen in ML because they never reach there full potential when the AI develops them,and hes 33 now.Thanks for the ideas much appreciated
