the 1.5 and 1.6 basically uses the same files, try using the EXE from the 1.5 in the 1.6, if the 1.5 exe didn't crash before it should work.
if you are going to update transfers, sky sports transfer center is a good site.. and after you transfer players, check the player "new number", i don't think that it's so importent, but sometimes new players get the lowest number that is now aviliable, and it's funny to see player with number "1".. or "2"..
btw, domingeuz has left Zenit, transfer that was in winter transfers.
and if you need any help in transfers update, formations, i have no problem to help.
in the upcoming patch, it will be fully updated, ill take off domingeuz.
if you having problems with the scoreboard in exhibition mode, u can remove it as mentioned in the trouble shooting file in the 1.6

np my friend, badly the 1.5 was not updated, but we are going to release a whole new patch (1.7) that is the most stable one of all the previous ones, should be before the end of the month to include all updates and transfers and kits....
i donno why exactly the 1.6 didnt work for you, but i do hope 1.7 will make friends with your PC

you have to install the championship extension to have all 2 english leagues, read the readme file inside the extension for install instructions.

I just did a clean install from my original copy of PES (v1.0) and then applied the 1.4 patch. After that I tried to apply the Kitserver setup.exe file, but it tells me that the current state of the "Game Executable" is "unknown EXE-file: this does not look like PES2009 or PES2009 DEMO!"
Was I supposed to install this patch on a clean version of 1.0 or 1.4? Or am I making some other error?
(Using XP SP2 if it matters)

i never mentioned that u should upgrade the game, the patch have its own exe files, however, be sure that you have used the exe from the patch overwriting the ones from the game.

Annoying bug
I Instaled PES 2009 and did nothing with it but follow the steps you sugested, when I first entered the game there was no scoreboard or minimap and a lot of other things where all white, so i read troubleshooting and did what you sugested again.
But, when I entered the game i noticed that only the minimap was fixed, my scoreboard is there now, but in a white large line and its ugly, also, some more things were still white, the place where the game shows the player names on the left and right of the minimap are all white, I mean, everything but the minimap has some white background and nothing in them is readable, all I see are white lines, the only white line i see something in is the scoreboard one, still there is an ugly white line in the back.
I already tryied Reinstalling everything including the game, I did use your exes, and I already used the Scoreboardfix Correctly, what should I do to fix your boards, or at least disable them ?
Edit: Just noticed FULL! reflexes on the grass when its raining, kinda stupid ^^, dont know if its your patch though...

if the fix didn't work for you revert to the default scoreboard, the new scoreboard files to be deleted are:
1- scoreboard_36.bin, located in kitserver\img\rv0c_X.img*
2- Scoreboard Sys_153.bin, located in kitserver\img\cv05.img
3- Scoreboard Sys_154.bin, located in kitserver\img\cv05.img
4- Scoreboard Sys_155.bin, located in kitserver\img\cv05.img
5- Scoreboard Sys_161.bin, located in kitserver\img\cv05.img
* X depends on your laguage, e for english, i for italian ...

Secondly. I would like your help. I've alredy installed slim big patch but I'm kind of dissapointed so I'm gonna reinstall the whole game. One problem though. I "made" (edited an existing team random team Babilayna CF) and put in me and all my friends and such.
I would like to backup that (the players and their abilitys and apperence is most important, I will re-do strips and such) and my saves but when I look in the save folder it seems to be "other saves" like dresses and such. Which are the ones I should save?

to backup your custom team, use (pes2009 editor) its an external utility, open the edit file where your team is, look for it between the teams then export all team, then after installing the patch, with the same program open the new edit file and import the team to replace any team u like. (this will only backup the player names, ability and appearence)

actually to change kits from the game is not possible because all teams are licensed in the patch, but what is better, you can change the kits of the team you replaced,
example: if you replaced seattle sounders, go to the kitserver/GDB/uni/others/seattle and put your new kits there, be sure that the files have the same names (rename)
if you wanna create a kit in photoshop, be sure that its 256 colors only, here is a picture that may help you:

Ok. I'm not that skilled on photoshop though :/. Isn't it possible to like extract a strip from the PES "strip generator" because i kind of made a good looking and simple one there?

i suggest you then to make look for a team that you can actually edit their kits in the game editor before you import your team, there is one ore two teams that you can do that with i think.
In your patch or in the slim big?
Funny thing, I had a team where you could edit strips (slim big) but i couldn't find it anywhere in PES editor for some reason. Though the strips changed back to original after every restart.
Is it not possible to just throw in a new random team in which you can edit anything or something like that? Or "un-licence" a team?

if you have exported the team, the import will be in the smoke patch, it is not possible to add any new teams, the number in the smoke patch is the highest number you can find, u have to pass over all teams (specially in team world A) and look for a team that you can the kits editable (if there is any)
