First It Giveth
PSN and EA Servers messing about for anyone else? Had to quit tonight as I kept disconnecting and even when I did get into a match the lag was unplayable. Pfff.

Well played everyone last night. I thought we were solid in all areas and deserved to win the matches we won.

The quitters are really spoiling the fun for me now though; not only are we not getting the amount of wins registered that we deserve, quite a few achievements I had unlocked with my VP in-game didn't count as we hadn't finished the 90 minutes. It's not fair on us

I think I did alright in the defensive-midfield role (feel free to add it to my list of capable positions in the Squad Details thread if you were impressed) but RCB is where I am best, quite clearly.

First 10/10 for me last night :)

My vote for Goal of the Night goes to Mike for that delightful little chip over the keeper. Genius :smug:

That's gotta be for everyone except me in the first 2-3 matches, i was a shambles but i got lots of accomplishments yesterday playing in defense.

The CAM or CM need to spread the play rather than looking for an opening for a shot on goal lol

btw do you all play on auto passing? link up play up front is too good to be semi or manual

I'm the CAM, but don't understand your point. I think in all I've taken three shots that I didn't score. And there have also been times when I've squared it instead of shooting, because tbh, my VP isn't that great.

Our main problem is the passing in general. We were a goal up last night with not long remaining, yet instead of keeping it and passing around, every time it entered our half, it got smashed away in panic. We're good at keeping the ball normally, it's just we need to go in to the games making ourselves harder to beat, not rushing to play a through ball to the strikers all the time.

We'll get better, no doubt, but as good as Berry is at the back, I always see us conceding. If we go 1-0 up, play boring football for a few minutes instead of rushing to get another. This is why play gets stretched and we get hit on the break.

Anyway, good goal last night, Phats.

That is how you celebrate a hat-trick and scoring your 50th career goal...

Baddar, passing the ball around at the back is great offline but we should careful doing it online. Particularly if the match is a bit laggy.

I don't just mean passing it around at the back, just passing it in general. Once it goes to the RM or LM, there's no need to just rush forward every single time is what I mean.

I may be taking this way too seriously, and I know it's supposed to be a bit of fun, but when we're ahead, it seems like we try too hard (sometimes myself included, I'll admit, because if people are piling forward, I join the attack) to double the lead, and it normally results in us conceding.

Attack is the best form of defence for us though, we always play better when we have a two or more goal lead, otherwise we get nervy.

And let's be honest, it's working so far.

I played RM one time, i was free on the wing maybe 10-15 times but you went for the glory shot, I dont mind you going for it, i do it as well but there were times i was isolated because when i had a chance to get the ball you went for a shot. But it was only one match so i cant really say you do it every match

Im looking to partner up with him now, im playing BAP as CB now so we should get better but most of those goals were my errors and some were other's errors

When in defense just pass it back to the damn keeper, i learnt that, passing around the back 4 is different to offline.

Next time we play, you'll see me sporting a new hairstyle let's just say it makes me look like that Belgian lad they call Fellaini

I've also upped myself from 6'6'' to 6'7'' :ninja:

Shall see if it makes a notable difference or not, next time we play. It hasn't changed any of my stats so should be good, hope so.

EDIT:

Desijut, stop complaining, there's lots of things I could moan about, regarding your form last night, mate.

We need to move on, and together, we will get better.

Agreed with Barn. We always have three people in attack and those three do a great job of scoring or creating chances. We should always be on the attack I feel. We're usually up against CPU controlled defences, which struggle to contain our strike force. I find when we concede it's down to individual areas, more often than not, they're mine too..

Anyway, as I was saying a few nights ago, I think we should add .com to our name if possible. That way other teams with 5+ players have a way of contacting us if we have a particularity good game. Maybe even tournament invites. I know most were against the idea, but I think it's something we should do.

Yeah, I was thinking the team should have .com at the end as a plug for the site as well as what you mentioned above.

my VP is 5'10 :p

I will be the first to admit i played very very shit (probably the worst on the team) and have seen where i went wrong and tried to change it, by the last game of the night my performance had gone to 9 from 5.

Anyway, you're right, but i aint complaining just seeing how we can improve and become 1st in the world instead of 50th or whatever in britain (which is still good but it is early days in terms of how long the game's been out).

PS: what happens when 12-15 people are in the dressing room? do we split into 2 matches?

EDIT: Lets move on and forget this

Good to hear, yeah I agree, sometimes we have to make mistakes to see where we're going wrong and ultimately we learn from our mistakes. So then next time we play, we perform better :)

Me, Miggy, Fabcio & Original? are playing right now if anyone fancies joining us?

I'll be on in 10 Berry.

Desijut, generally we would split long before 12 players as there will be too many strikers or midfielders on but yes if that many were on we definitely would. Teams are at random - you just go into whichever room.

Sorry for ignoring messages last night, having been disconnected twice the other night, I wasnt really in the mood. I'll try to get on tonight though, but if it happens whilst we are in a match, i'll be off.

I don't think it's possible to change the team name, only the kits, team motto etc.

I thought the opposite to Baddar; I felt we were passing it around at the back and at RM/LM way too much last night, especially when Miggy was ANY. I don't remember a single time when Miggy actually punted the ball forward; he thinks he's Michel Platini or something! Also, I think desijut's comment about the CAM shooting too often was more aimed at Fab than yourself, Baddar, as he was taking a lot of long shots.

Two things we don't do:

Hoof corners away. I'm standing on the halfway line BEHIND the two players supposed to be marking me so if you hoof it anywhere I should at least be able to take possession. Just worth trying once in a while as its the role I occupy almost every time...except when the game throws me into the 18-yard box for no reason at all.

We also appear to be generally scared of crossing the ball. The number of times I'm standing in the centre and its being played around the edge of the area in the hope of getting through on the ground is quite incredible. Admittedly heading is a bit of a lottery in this game but mixing it up won't hurt.

Fab ends up further forward than I do which is sometimes good in that my player is slow and turns like a tank but at other times is worrying.

All of the above is why switching to a 6'7 striker weighing 240lbs didn't work. I was able to tackle any defender who dared come near me but with no hoofing or crossing I was stuck. I'd drop a tiny bit off the front, get the ball and then have to become a playmaker to play Original? through earlier today which I did fine but it sort of defeats the purpose of me being that size.

I'm back to 6'2 and around 183lbs now.

EDIT: Chipped through balls instead of ones along the ground are nice and we don't play enough of those either.

I'm sure Phatmann will agree with most of this.
