Why do my PES players lose the ball so easily???

So correct me if im wrong, do people still do that unrealistic run with messi where he dribbles 3 defenders, cuts back to the center for a easy shot from henry\etoo? If not, then its a big step forward in the realism part since a real player wouldnt dribble through easily, more when the defender marking you is John Terry supported by Ferdinand. PES 09 was so unrealistic where C.ronaldo could just fly past puyol like he wasnt there, come on, in real football puyol would of just pushed him away with his body even though ronaldo is faster.

I agree with what your saying about one player beating a whole team and cutting back for another player to score. Yes, a complete waste of time and I'm glad you cant do that any more. What I'm saying is, because the players are so unresponsive, it has slowed down the play that much that you cant do ANY type of run or quick turn. And like I said before, when an opposition player touches you when you have the ball, you stop dead! If Puyol, Terry or Rio come near you, you dont just stop, you try and keep the ball. If Eto is running at, say Terry, are you telling me all Terry has to do is touch Eto and thats the end of the attack?

It's ruined the gameplay, for me at least!

Grow up,some of you!

I hate it when people who consider them selves to be Pes gamers by heart can brush off fellow gamer’s opinions and complaints. I don’t have the game yet; have to wait another week, huh......

My point is that the concern of the original poster makes sense and deserves respectful replies. I totally agree that strikers just don’t come to a stand still when a defender touches him. Let's face it, it seems Pes 2010 is not the game most pesgamers expected. This does not mean that they hate Konami, just that they are disappointed. As for me, I am anxiously waiting for the game no matter the flaws. For me the new additions such as stadiums, better graphics, real currency and more in-depth managerial options is worth getting the game. As someone who gets easily annoyed by flaws in games, I think the best difficulty level for me will be to stick with "regular” like all the previous games in the series.

well like most people have said it isnt the game thats flawed its the playing. i have been playing pes since pes3 and well i still think pes10 is the best one so far.

i aint a progamer who can player it on expert or whatever. i am just an average pes player and well i dont think they lose the ball that easily. yeh sometimes when its sloppy passes or if the player is fatigued. but then this way it makes it more realistic. tbh i find it more fun that i get more of a challenge. its all timing. i have at times lost the ball when i timed it wrong and then later in the game made the exact same pass and got it through
its better that you cant just dribble, it makes me think more and well improves my gaming. when i first started playing pes i was one of the people who grabbed the ball and dribbled and well when playing mates i always lost. now i play with more skill and passing i can actually win against them

if the playing is getting that frustrating, why not lower the difficulty? its easy to do. thats again what i like about pes10. with pes08(last one i had) you had to stick with a certain difficulty throughout the season. i hated that. i like to change the difficulty depending on the opponents. ie use regular for most the times and then on the big matches, ie barca, cup knockouts, derbies etc i up the difficulty to make it more challenging

You are absolutely right, players in PES 2010 dont fight for the ball at all. I think what Konami tried to do was to end the unstoppable dribbling by making players weaker. but they need to find a balance between endless running and weak body balance. Why not add more fouls like "pushing attackers to the ground", the game barely has any fouls. Isnt that exactly how Terry would defend against C.Ronaldo, not slide tackling him but just use body power to push him away?

Yea, the biggest issue of the gameplay is the very low number of fouls. This is after all football you know, body contact is allow and a game where 2 European giants are facing each other should be full of fouls because of the rough play.

In my opinion, I prefer this new system.

On 09, you mostly ran past a player, around him. Not seldom without shot feinting.

But on the 10 version, it's more running in that exact moment (when the defender is on his wrong foot) or taking a sprint at that right time and run through the defense.

It's much more fun running through it than around it.

Thanks for that. It sometimes feels like your disrespecting someones wife on here. All I'm saying is that there have always been flaws, not just with PES but FIFA too, but the flaws this year seem to have made the gameplay worse......in MY opinion. The aesthetics of the new PES are 100% better than they have ever been, although still trying to figure out the differences of what the sliders do lol. But for me, the reason I think the gameplay is worse is because of the unresponsiveness of the players and the time it takes from pressing the button on your controller and the act taking place.

Thats what I've had to resort to doing, however, does that not defeat the purpose? I am playing most of my games on regular and winning by 6 or 7 goals (which I hate because there is no challenge) but as soon as I up it to Pro, even the smallest teams are near impossible to beat!

i guess the only thing to do is practise pro on exhibition in order to get used to it. i know it can be frustrating being defeated by all the small teams but its all practise at the end of the day

Is it just me or is this the worst PES EVER? I dont want rants from PES nuts telling me I'm this or that. PES used to be the most played game I had but the last few years have been really bad. I actually took back my PES 2009 and bought FIFA last year because I was so pi**ed off with it and thought this year would be different. How wrong I was. I am nearly thru the 1st season of master league with Real Madrid and am ssoooo frustrated with the game. My biggest disappointment is you can no longer go on mazey runs with the likes of Ronaldo (or messi or any other players, who in real life can actually run faster than someone a lot slower than them). In Past PES's you could turn on a sixpence with certain players but in 2010 when you try and turn, it takes that long a defender is on you. Or should I say 4 defenders and 2 midfielders!! Also, why are the players constantly running right next to each other? On lots of occasions I have had the ball at my feet with most of the opposition running at me and when I try and pass the ball it bounces off the player how has been running beside me!!! I really liked PES but am on the brink of returning it for FIFA again. Can someone tell me if it's just my settings or something so I dont have to take it back.:no::no::no:

Try to play with the Cards System, switch some off and the others on ... Read the game and use your players to support you according to your game tactics .. You'll then see if your player will lose the ball or not ..

i agree with the op, even with a player whos got 10 points more for speed and acceleration the com players still catch up way too easily and tackle you. but if its me chasing a com player i cant catch up and even if i do the X button does fuck all. imo its shit but so is fifa. damn

also on Pro or top player level its impossible to get the ball when the com is playing 150 odd passes per match but only having 2 shots

i dont know how anyone can say that is good

I have to agree with luketu`s comments,on higher difficulty settings it gets silly where the complayers keep passing around and keeping the ball for ages even tho you are using x and square for your ai players to close em down. And then all you see is they have had a few attempts on goal. The close control dribble seems a joke and the com players rob you of the ball so easily it gets annoying at times.Play pes 6 and you appreciate how the close dribble should work.Maybe some of us need more practice but some gameplay elements feel wrong for me.

AI cheating was always present in every pes. There's no need to fuss about it now. I know it's frustrating though.

there is a need to moan about it, its 2009 we have HD graphics plenty of technology et and konami cant even be bothered to make a good game

As to the question being asked in this thread: I think you lose the ball so easily because of the insanely slow reaction in pes 2010 - the time from pressing the button to executing the desired move is waay to long this year. Don't think this has been a problem before :(

If the simple passes are not getting to the players- why blame the game. All too often, real life teams sometimes give the ball away too cheaply. It happens. Especially my Celtic???

celtic are hopeless in pes 2010. but marginally less bad than rangers. come on how realistic is that??? hail hail

I was commenting on AI cheating. That's what your previous post was about anyway.

i only find the button delay at certain points like if your getting crowded by players its not as bad as i thought.

well i havent had too many problems with delays, one or two odd ones where i have had to press the button twice but i just put that down to how i was moving the player at the time.

and well the pro or top player isnt true. just you need practise. on every other pes game i couldnt play pro or top without getting my ass kicked. i actually played top player recently on 08 before i got 10 and well i lost.
pes2010 has got ALOT easier. on pro and top player i can thrash the big teams 4 or 5-0. and i can still manage to dribble too. so its a lot easier i find this year. and tbh with the fact i could win easily i felt a bit disapointed

i do however think the 2 shots thing is true, they seem to hold the ball but have not much desire to shoot. even when behind
